Fresh Water Tank Support Buckling
This must be a problem between different divisions of forest river. To bad forest river doesn't have a standard for all companies. My 2012 sandstorm has "T" shaped tanks if that makes sense. They are mounted with C channels over the T part and then have angle iron running across the bottom. The tank is a 56 gallon it does kinda drupe when full but I don't fear it's going to fall out.

Dropping a tank of this size on a highway would severely damage a car. I've read tanks are even larger on the bigger units.

WOW that is a lot of water,,, 700 - 800 lbs ???
And yes VERY NICE JOB Poper !!!

What I meant, was that lci builds frames for almost eceryone. I can't search a lot because I'm on the road, but it took me less than a minute to find tank issues with passport, bullet and jayco's.
I'm not arguing the fact that they should not be better supposed. All I'm saying is that it is not just a forest river issue. Happy Easter.

The sad thing is they put cheap Chinese mAde Goodyear Marathon tires on these rigs and you blow a tire and wipe out your rear quarter panel.

Fresh water tank support issues
Does anyone know if this continues to be a problem. We have a 2019 21FBRS with an enclosed underbelly. DH is not looking forward to removing the underbelly to check out the supports, possibly creating a problem where there was none. But if it's a problem, we'd rather fix it before it falls out. We want to use the trailer for camping and traveling, so we want to be able to travel with full tanks occasionally.
Thanks for you help!

On my Flagstaff High Wall A-frame, the 20 gal tank tends to droop slightly over the supports when full. I'd rather have a more rigid tank to begin with, but it is what it is. I typically look at it carefully when we get home (or sometimes before leaving home) to see if the supports are bending. So far, no bent supports - just a droopy tank.
We routinely travel with a full tank (and water heater) so that we can take electric-only or dry campsites without wasting time finding a spigot to fill upon arrival. And the full tank makes the suspension a little softer, and reduces the heavy tongue weight a little.

We have a 2017 Cruise Lite 210RBXL and it has a 50 gal. tank (plus 6 in the WH). Today I looked to see just what the owners manual said and the info in the pic below is out of there. Although it says "you may want to drain the tank..." I would not call that adequate for most TT owners. As many have said, we do a lot of boondocking so what am I supposed to do with an empty tank???
I noticed after reading many posts on this issue that my tank was suspended by some .062 break formed sheet metal braces. I replaced these with 1 1/4" X 2" C channel. No evidence of bowing even with a full tank. At some point I may put something between the C channel and the tank to eliminate some of the tank sag but the way our tank is mounted that sig shouldn't allow the tank to collapse like some of the photos showed.

I just noticed this on ours. The bottom which is supposed to be flat is now rounded. I included a picture of the drain spout which the tank now sits lower then the drain.

For the record we traveled 2 hours a week and a half go for the first time with water. Since we are leaving for DC in the morning, I saw no reason to empty the tank. Now I am thinking it's not safe to travel like that.

These are my tank supports. Not going anywhere.
Second picture shows the size difference between the new supports and old.

This is before pics of the tank. So it is not supposed to bow like that.

How are your tanks supported? Surprised there are no supports on the bottom at all.

Look at the first picture in the before post. You will see a steel bar running across the width of the trailer. The fresh water tank sits on that bar. Front and back

I definitley would add a bottom support. May have to be a "U" configuration and will have to be fabricated but would be well worth having.

So the tank is supported on the front and rear edge only by a lip in the tank that sits on those 2 bars, correct?
I would add a cross bar or two under the center bottom. Could you not take a short piece of square steel tubing to fit the distance the bottom of the water tank sits below the bottom edge of the side beam. Just find a size that works (say 2x2" for example) and then obtain a new U-channel cross bar like Babock has and use longer bolts to hold the u-channel against the spacer 2x2 square stock through the I-beam flange. Basically you are drilling mounting holes through the u-channel, the square stock spacer and bottom flange of the I-beam trailer frame for the long bolts to fit in (like Babock did with his mounting bolts).
Does that make sense?

150 gallons
I bought a 2019 Sandstorm 293GSLR and it has a 150 gal. tank on it. It has the attic package so I can’t see the tank brackets. Anyone know how well it’s supported? A friend of mine just had his 5th wheel drop it’s black tank and got me researching and wow I had know idea this was an issue. I’m hoping since my tank is so large they may have done something to hold it up. Only put maybe 20 gallons into it so far. Would like to here if anyone has something similar in size.

I contacted Forest River about this issue and received the following:
Quote:
Thank you for your interest in Flagstaff. Not only did we increase the gauge of steel used to brace the holding tank, we now use three supports for it instead of two. It was made for the 2020 model year but the way the RV industry changes model years, there would have been some 2020 models that did not have the change.

I take delivery of my 2021 Flagstaff 21FBRS next month, so I will check this.
