Friction Hinge

We are thinking about retrofitting our 2015 5th wheel with friction hinges on the entry door. I have read as many threads as I can about this and see some real mixed views on the hinge itself. One thing I have not seen is that no one has quite figured out if it can even be done. Lippert does not list a "friction" hinge replacement on their web site nor does Amazon or any other RV Parts store that I can find. So just throwing this out, has any of you Forest River owners ever done this? What's your thoughts about even attempting this project? We value all of your opinions. Thanks

Mine came with the gas shocks, which I hated. Replace both with the old style "T'" latch so they would open fully

I can see the value in it, if you could find something that would work. Not having to get out and unlatch the "T" bar to close the door would be one positive.

LCI (Lippert) lists a "Six Leaf Controlled Motion" hinge on their website. That would be the same as a friction hinge. If yours uses the 6-leaf design then that one may fit.

My 2016 sierra has it. Came from the factory with it.
