Front Window Protection: Glass or plexiglass
What material is used to protect the front window of my 21 foot Micro Lite? It is black when seen from the outside, but you can see through it from the inside when the bed is down. Is it glass, plexiglass, acrylic or something else? I would like to put RainX on it to help remove bugs. But the product label says to not use on plastic. I see where RainX now has a product for plastics, but if the regular RainX can be used, I would use that. Anyone have an experience with this to share?

It should be laminated windshield glass, glass on the outer layers and plastic inside.
Anything ok for glass is ok to use
edit: details should be etched in a corner. A picture would help too

Post the year and specific model (or check the manufactures site with this info).

I would say it’s tempered glass , all glass on RVs are tempered glass. Could be tinted.

If it is glass, there will be an acid-etched faint label in one corner. In the auto glass trade this label is referred to as a "bug".
In addition to manufacturer, it should have either an AS-1 or AS-2 marked.
AS-1 is sandwiched, glass-plastic-glass, safety glass.
AS-2 is single layer, tempered glass.

My MicroLite 19FBS front window is labeled, "Tempered, AS3" From the edges, it appears to be laminated.

You might want to check if it is black on the outside at night with the interior lit. My guess is that it isn't. I heard a story about a sorority with tinted windows where the girls thought they didn't need to pull the shades because of the tinting.
