Furrion Camera Suction Mount

My suction cup for the monitor has just flat out quit working. It won't stay up long at all. What's the best place to get that part replaced? Is it just a universal mount or do I need the actual Furrion piece?

Thanks

First I'd call Furrion, they may replace for nothing. They did mine.

Now I use one of those pop-sockets mounted to my dash. Easy to put away when needed.

Here is what I purchased. I think Best Buy had them for a couple dollars last week.

Mine broke, too. Replaced it with a windshield cell phone mount. Much better.

I decided to not use the suction cup mount at all. I attach my monitor to the rear view mirror with those twisty vinyl covered wire things. The mirror is essentially useless when the trailer is back there, and that’s where I’m accustomed to looking when I want to see back that way.

Joe, that's what I plan on doing when I get mine. Attach it to rear view mirror somehow.

I haven't had an issue with my suction mount. So far it's working great.

My old GPS unit would always fall off, so I've been there... This camera monitor is much lighter and I don't expect to have issues with it staying put.

If I did I would contact Furrion for a replacement. I like to be able to easily remove the monitor when I'm not pulling the TT.

I'm wondering if the ball at the end of the mount is the same size as the Garmin mount ball. I have a couple of those lying around. Has anyone ever suction mounted the monitor to the rear view mirror glass? I want to know if anyone had a problem like cracking, etc, before try that. I may attach a little piece of glass to the mirror that I can use the suction mount on. Trying to figure out an alternate way to easily attach/detach it for when towing/not towing other than the twisties like Joe is using or elastic. I agree with him that the best place to mount it is where you normally look to see behind you; the rear view mirror.

I keep heavy rubber bands with my rear view monitor and attach it to the rear view mirror.

I used rubber bands for a while, but they dry out and break fairly easily. I've "upgraded" to the bands gals use to hold a pony tail.

No pony tails in the female side and I don't have a man bun. lol I just keep them fresh, I have had them break too. Either way it's the best way to go. I look at my rear view mirror when I drive down the road so it's a perfect place for the monitor.

Only problem is it gets hot enough to deform in a hot (parked) black truck...

And the job that has the 3d printers is no longer.... And I didn't get one for Christmas... First world problems....

The suction cup mounts are junk. Never used one that worked long. A holder that clips to a stable point is the best. The cup holder phone etc mounts look interesting, though haven't tried one yet. My f150 has a shallow dish on top of the dash. I cut a piece of plywood to fit the dish and secured the mount to that minus the suction part. I can alternate with other devices also.

You will find by cleaning the inside of the window with a mixture of water and vinegar and also cleaning suction cub they will hold quite well. I have a spot on my Ram that is level and smooth plastic on my center stack. Works great. Later RJD

Garmin makes several mounts for their GPS systems, I had one and modified it to work with mine.

What sort of modification will be required?

All I needed to do was take off the Garmin mount and switch it with the Furrion one.

Gotcha. Thought the mount ball looked to be of similar size in the pics. Don't have my Furrion yet, waiting for prices on new model to fall a bit. Not getting an itty bitty 4.3 inch screen, and not paying 480 bucks or more for larger one.

The Garmin ball is 17 mm. The furrion uses a 16 mm ball

I have a simpler solution, I think, I took the visor mount spring from a hands-free Bluetooth device and mounted the ball mount from a TomTom GPS. I cut off the window suction cup and screwed it onto the spring clip. I mount the monitor on my sunvisor. Works great. Click image for larger version

I just got the new Furrion back up camera from Forest River electronics . com for 250. You can believe the difference from the old model to the new one. It’s the best price I have ever seen.
