The last time I've seen anything remotely resembling "normal" was back around 1972.

Diesel in Lee Vining CA (east entrance to Yosemite) was $5.25 in early October.

Go on Gasbuddy, and you can see prices anywhere in the country, by all fuel grades/types. Good for trip planning.

Compared to most states, we are energy independent. We have 6 refineries located throughout the state. Whatever crude that can not be handled by the refineries is often exported. We also produce natural gas from gas wells. On the north end of our state is the National Petroleum Reserve (NPR-A).

Less tax is a major player in the fuel prices. Now they are putting down natural gas because of methane. Bad like coal, don’t you have any non polluting energy up there? We have electricity here🤣

You can’t enter that way this time of year. They are always high over there, not much competition.

Unless it's hydro-electric it's a secondary power source. You have to have something to generate electricity. It's not a "naturally occurring" element.

Or reported correctly. I have chased a good price only to find it is not. I think that owners will sometimes update prices wrongly figuring once you get there you will just go ahead and fill up anyway.

That’s why I put the 😂. Most electricity is as dirty as it’s source and more wasteful due to generator loses, line loses, charging loses and so on.

No,.... we don't have electricity up here. Haven't you heard?, we extract whale oil from blubber to light and heat our igloos.

You should burn that whale oil and make electricity so you could have some of those ZERO emission cars like we do! 🤥

Gas price increase affecting your travel plans?
After tallying up my fuel bill for my recently completed 3,000 mile trip, I'd have to say "YOUR DARN RIGHT IT IS"!!
Since most of my trip was through California (2,000+ miles) I had to spend over $500 MORE on fuel than on the rest.
What was really aggravating is how at a station on the CA side of the AZ/CA border gas was selling for $5.50/gallon (87 Regular) and 20 miles away in AZ it was only $3.29.
Gas probably delivered from the same tank farm and maybe even by the same transport truck.
My future trips will be shorter and will definitely avoid CA.
Should here some of the comments by people from East filling up for the first time in CA. None can be printed here.

They're just P'd Off when someone sits down to a "Whopper, Big Mac, or Steak".
What doesn't upset them

Why would a 2021 Duramax be 8 years old? Your signature says you have a 2021 Duramax Is this a misprint, or are you baiting responses?

We have avoided CA during our 4-5 month summer trips for 4 years now. Crazy expensive, way too many people, and mostly bad roads, besides the outrageous fuel prices.

Just in the last 2-3 days diesel has gone up in Western NY about $.30 a gallon! I have no reason why, $3.89/3.99 a gal.
|
the price of oil has been creeping up every week, and inventory levels of the fuel are creeping down is the reason...
Early Feb OPEC increased quota production of crude by 400,000 brl a day, but it takes a little time to ramp up production and take delivery of the oil to the refineries...
