My quickest exit out of 5 Buckistan is to the east, and it takes a tank and a half to get there, but as soon as I cross the border to AZ, I'm paying $1 to $1.50 less.
That said, market forces and supply issues usually cause fuel price increases, however, this latest price jump was absolutely engineered by the actions of the current admin. Seems to me you have to be sticking your head in the sand to not see that.

Getting back on topic; I wonder if this latest jump is going to start causing cancellations?

Now you gotta ask, is it cheaper to travel or stay home?? Traveling might be cheaper with my home heating oil at $4.30/g today!!

Once camping season starts I'll be filling my gas tank once a week instead of once every 2 weeks.

But since I've already sent the check in to pay for my seasonal site. Might as well get my money's worth out of it.

Gas up here is between $1.55 and $2.00 a liter!! That's about $5.86 ($4.61 USD) to $7.56 ($5.92 USD) a gallon, depending on where in Canada you are.
Now we are able to travel, but affording it is becoming another matter.

Not much cheaper here glen. Haven't been out today, but I'm sure we are over 4 USD per gallon now. Cash.

Here in Anchorage, our fuel prices are not as bad as other places. A 34¢ increase in gas to $3.75/GL, and a 3¢ increase for diesel to $3.69/GL in the last month. Name brand stations are $4.00+ for both fuels. Could get dicey in the months to come.

Diesel varies a bit here in Texas but it is floating around $4.55/gallon and is often $0.20 higher than Premium. West Texas Intermediate is at $112.80/bbl on NYMEX just right now. Unless things moderate, you are looking at $5+ per gallon by summer vacation time. 😖😭

We will not be changing our travel plans. One good thing is the last three years we have gone out west. This year we will head north to Ohio and then work our way over to Northeast Maine and then down to Western North Carolina before heading home. We will be only traveling about half the distance but, total fuel costs will be about the same. I miss mean Tweets and Cheap Fuel.

Yesterday I saw Diesel price change from $4.19 to $4.49 in a 3 hour time span.

We have a trip to a meeting in the Michigan UP planned for August. Reservations were in before fuel prices launched into the stratosphere. It may be our last long trip for a while.

My local go to station was $3.89/gal (diesel) last week. Drove by yesterday and it is $4.07/gal this week. (in Portland, OR metro area)

Most of the time we just travel close in - - perhaps 2 or 3 - occasionally 4 - hour drives. But every 3 or 4 years we do a long, multi-state, multi-week trip. EVERY time we have one of these long trips planned fuel has spiked and then dropped after we return home. Every time.

This year we have a 7-8 week trip planned as far as Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, etc. planned. My wife has said that if prices keep going up we will have to cancel. My answer was, "We're going even if we pay 6-7 bucks per gallon."

I expect prices to drop after we get back. Y'all can blame me for now and then thank me in late June or early July .

It won't affect my travel plans, but I'm hoping it affects other's travel so there is more room in more places Purely a selfish perspective......

I don't understand the people that are brand loyal. I buy gas wherever it's cheapest. Although there is one station that I prefer because they don't require you to pre-pay and they give a discount on paying with cash.

But there is one chain in town that is consistently 5 or 10 cents higher than every other station in town. Yet people still buy gas there. It's 2 blocks from my house and I pass it almost everyday, yet never buy gas there.

Doesn’t seem like a big deal, .50 per gallon increase at 10 mpg is only $200 for a 4000 mile trip.
That home heating oil price sounds like a price for Diesel with a road tax too.
We use propane for the heated floors and water heater. A full tank usually goes through the winter and we usually only turn on the master bathroom and the office. The rest we use wood. If the power goes out the generator eats it up. Winter price right now $2.85.

Now fuel is going to get expensive. I will sleep in my truck in the National Forest instead of getting a motel on long truck trips. That will save money and more than pay for the extra fuel.

I figure we are not getting any younger. The last two years should have been hiking in Europe. This year is the west coast and next year the east, unless he who should not be named blows us up first. Gas is just the cost of travelling.
