Call me a pessimist. Normal is a ways off.

Saw that, too. CAVEAT: It's going to take 5-7 days for the tankers to get all of the stations that are currently out replenished along with the stations that are nearly depleted.

North metro Atlanta, and around the I-575 corridor, is experiencing a high percentage of stations without any gas. While I was out today I only saw one station with gas and it was going for $3.399 per gallon for Regular. Before this started Regular was around $2.50 a gallon. It has gotten really ugly around here to say the least.

If you posted to this thread and it was not strictly about where there is or isn't gas your post may have disappeared.
If you posted anything that was the LEAST bit gov't related or pretty much anything else except where there is or isn't gas it's likely gone.

You were warned.
We REALLY wanted to keep this thread open so the rules were extremely tightened on this one.

Be careful out there!

We are about 20 miles from a Colonial Pipeline "tank farm" in central Virginia and all of the stations around were empty this afternoon

I live in Georgia, found out that I could use off road diesel if I can't find any regular diesel, since the state declared a state emergency. They passes that a few years ago.
But I don't know about other states.

I like that my state goes after price gougers. I think they are only allowed to change price once every 24 hours too.

If the pipeline is coming back "on line" as they have said there should be gas readily available by the end of next week.

Saw that the pipeline was back in business too but the news reports are saying it could be longer until the gas stations are back in business. Takes time to refill the supply lines.

I stopped to gas up today in an Orlando suburban Shell and that station only had premium gas. The low and mid octane gases were sold out. I am sure it was folks "stocking up", but it is what it is.

Gas shortage

This post merged from another new thread.

I'm currently in Curry Hammock SP in the Florida Keys and today I saw several gas stations shutting pumps down, I assume because they ran out of gas. I leave for the Tampa area tomorrow and then back home to western PA on Monday. I haven't been paying much attention to what's going on in the country so I am wondering if there are a lot of areas in the east with gas shortages.

Or maybe not.
Many places today are reporting getting deliveries since the pipeline is back in operation and some 30% of stations still closed.
That means 70% are still open and selling fuel.

OP update: This morning my friend filled up his Expedition at the Ingles grocery store in Swannanoa, NC, and continued his trip with his camper.

It is a big place like a Walmart or Costco station. Said the store manager was out there directing traffic.

Swannanoa is between Asheville and Black Mountain. I was surprised he was able to get back on the road so soon.

Add to that, all the ones who rushed out and bought extra gas won’t need to buy any for longer than they normally would so the stations should be able to replenish their stocks fairly soon.
