Good info or not

We purchased a new Toy hauler Jan this year and took it in for service
last month and while talking to the dealer today found out that work had
been done (or approved) the day before we picked it up. I asked
what had been done and the service manager said it was against the law
and could (or would) not tell me. Said they couldn't give me any information
about previous owner which he later said the dealer was the previous owner. Has anyone ran into this before.

Kind of a confusing story, but they cannot give information out about a previous owner, but they certainly can give information out on previous work done to the trailer. I've never really heard a dealer call themselves a previous owner.

Dealers give out service history all the time. It is possible that the dealership owner was the previous owner but that's unlikely. It's strange and maybe even suspicious that they'd be unwilling to give you a service history. Are you noticing anything seriously wrong with the unit?

No, I don't think there is anything seriously wrong with the trailer.
After I pick the trailer up today I'am going to get the names of the service
manager and service writer and email the attorney generals office.
I think what happened was they sold me a demo unit (For new)that they were taking
show to show after I told them I did not want that unit.
There are a lot of little things this dealer has done and or not done,
I don't think they understand customer service or don't care.

Sounds like your last sentence.

I'm finding out things of this nature about my local dealer......
Talked to the former Service MGR. about the small problem I was having with them and what steps I should take to get the problem cured and got alot more info than I was expecting to hear.
Sad.

If by "new" you mean it was sold as new by the dealer (not "new" meaning new to me, but actually used) there can be no prior owner.

And if when they say work was authorized - if they mean authorized by FR, then it was a warranty job. Cold have been an issue from the factory or from the transporter that they had to fix.

I can't think of any reason they couldn't tell you what was done to it before you picked it up. Pretty sure HIPPA regulations don't apply to RV's . Now, they may not WANT to tell you what they had to fix.

Something doesn't make sense here.

Well i would say you are on the right course of action with your statement in your last posting. I will give a very quick rundown on a dealer in NY ( no I will not give the name) that sold me a NEW coach, that had repairs needed when we looked at the coach, of course they said it would be fixed, it was not. long story short, the day we went to pick it up (i could not leave it), but i had them write up that all the things I found wrong (as well as things not fixed) would be, I left, over the whole 1 season I owned the trailer, not the dealer, not the factory, not a local dealer would fix the unit, all claimed that it was made wrong and had to go back to factory. The factory told me they would not fix the coach, and voided the warranty! Therefore, i contacted the NYS attorney general and they wrote up papers so that was able to return the coach with a full reimbursement to me then purchased my first cedar creek.
I was contacted about 18 months later by a lady who asked my name and if i owned said trailer and after a couple of minutes it was revealed that this same dealer after i had returned the coach, used for a whole season, with extensive water damage and other damage that they had to have fixed (big repair bucks) sold the trailer "AS NEW"
So do not believe that dealers do not do it, it is done had it happen to me, told the woman i could not get involved (states attorney told me, i cannot) SO IT HAPPENS!

The dealer is in Indianapolis IN. Picked the trailer up 11/19/15,
The two main reasons for taking the trailer in was inverter and or battery
not working and black tank rinse not installed was paid for at time of
purchase back in Jan. Now taking it back in Monday 11/23/15 so they can install the tank flush, they had it from 10/13/15 until 11/19/15 and only replaced the battery, my bad for not checking the flush but service manager said it was a brand new flush system and he put the manual in the trailer.
Stupid me neither was correct. I can't believe its this much trouble to get what we paid for. I will never trust anything they say again.
And yes it was brand new or sold as one to me. The service manager said
the dealership owned the trailer but would not give me the service record.

Tell them you are asking for the service record not info on previous owner, because it was new there is no precious owner! Tell them you had not contacted FR for any work and you , now the owner, did not authorize any work so are now demanding to know what was done.

If they give you more crap call FR and ask them what, if any, work they had authorized. They should be able to tell you. Be sure yo tell them you are now the owner.
