Angry Good Sam experience

Is this normal?

Ironically, I just got my Good Sam annual renewal notice, but last week, they wouldn't help me with a flat tire on my trailer...

So, I have what I think is the highest tier of support with GS. Last Thursday around noon I had one of my tires blow out on my trailer (2019 Rockwood Mini Lite). I called GS and started with "I have a flat tire on my trailer, I have everything I need, but I can't get the lug nuts off because they're really tight." After a half-an-hour of totally ridiculous and irrelevant questions from the person ("what color is your vehicle?", "how many people with you?", "how much luggage is in the RV?", "What size is the wheel?", "What make-year is it?") -- she finally says, "it looks like you don't have coverage for lug-nut removal, I'm going to process this as a tire-change request, that'll be $245, we accept all major credit cards..." I said thank you, and hung up.

Were my expectations just too high? Any Good Sam replacement options out there you recommend? (BTW, I ended up calling Progressive and they had someone dispatched in 10 minutes.)

Makes no sense. We had a flat I called GS. They asked all the pertinent questions. Size of tire etc. Guy arrived with a replacement tire had we needed it. My wheel simulator had wore a hole in the metal valve stem. He replaced the stem aired it up and wexwere on our way.why would you have to pay? I understand paying for a replacement tire if needed but not to remove. I think the dispatcher had no idea what they were talking about.

I'm hoping that's the case, she did sound terribly robotic and was following a script for sure...I reached out to GS. She was probably checking a checklist somewhere for "lug nut removal" and not just "flat tire"...

This was my experience with Good Sam Roadside Assistance this week.

On 18 Oct at a fuel station in St. Louis County MO I discovered a bulge in one of the tires on our fifth wheel trailer. We have been members of Good Sam ERS since 2004 so I called at 1:49 PM to get the tire changed. After answering a number of ridiculous questions the GS representative asked, I was told they would text me when they had a tow company to change the tire.

At 2:30 I still hadn’t received a text or call so I phoned Good Sam again. The agent checked and told me they were still searching for someone to provide us service.

At 3:30 PM I still hadn’t heard from Good Sam ERS so I started calling local companies myself. I finally found a tow company that could change my tire and they showed up at 4:30 PM. By 5 PM we were back on the road and my wallet was much lighter. I never did hear back from Good Sam ERS, no text, no call, nothing. Keep in mind this occurred in a major metro area on a weekday in the afternoon. HOW SAD!!

I had cancelled mine last year when sold my motorhome. The one time tried to get help when it quit on the side of the road they were useless. Gave up and got it going to limp to a truck repair mile or so down the road. Looked up last week and they renewed it amd charged my credit card. Called and asked what are you doing. Went back and forth and the did finally issue me a credit. I won’t give anything to Good Sams or Camping World. I’m sure they may do ok from time to time but to me both always are sitting there with their hands out looking for some way to get another buck

Having been a long time member of Good Sam I can honestly say that Marcus Lemons has pretty much ruined Good Sam.

Good Sam came out to an RV park where I was staying in IN and changed my tire on a Sunday morning.

If it weren't for GS, I want to buy you house and come lunch with us and learn how to starve in retirement we would only get mail at bill time.

I guess Good Sam just doesn't like me. I had emailed Good Sam with my complaint and on Tuesday while out shopping a rep called our home phone. He left a message with a phone number I could call back to discuss our lack of service. For the past two days I've been calling that number and all it does is ring and ring with no answering machine. I guess this is just typical of Good Sam.
