Good Sam Trip Planner
How many of you miss the old trip planner they had on their website? I used it to plan trips by marking stops every 250 miles or so. I have a 250 mile "tail" and it was so easy to plan stops.

We've been using it to plan our trips this summer...
Maybe they moved it on you?
It's here as far as I know: RV travel – trip planning tools and information from Good Sam Club

I think the trip planner is there. I liked the one they had on the disc. It was easy to use and gave you a lot of info. I think the last one was 2011. The one I have is 2008.

Sorry ti hijack your thread but the planner sounds good and I looked at the good Sam site and it was appealing since I will be traveling more in the near future. Is it a good deal or am I being blinded by what appears really good.

I am with Charlie Brown.........the old trip planner was better and less difficult to figure out.

Oops...I missed the part about it being the 'old trip planner'.
I didn't know there was an older version so I have nothing to compare it to. The new version certainly has it's quirks but I find it pretty useful even though certain aspects can be annoying at times.

I have been using the Good Sam Trip Planner for the last two year's trips. Currently planning a 3 month trip using it. The planner is like all other software, in that after using it for awhile you get used to its features. Maybe being a retired IT guy, I'm more used to technology changes and learning to adjust to them.

Yes the new one sucks, used to use the old one and as you say could put stops in and move the scree around with cursor. New one can only move with arrows, and where you want it to go fly's off your screen. bring the old one back, Please !
It was easier t use, in my opion.

I agree with Dale Carol. New version of Good Sam has lots of drawbacks. My three biggest gripes are: 1) It only accepts 25 points. On our 16 state trip, it wasn't much good for effective planning; 2) Adding a new point anywhere other than the end of the route requires moving the new point one location at a time to get it into the position it belongs. You must recalculate at each point while moving it to its proper location. It's even worse if you want to change the order of the points; finally 3) downloading the trip into the Rand McNally (Good Sam) device takes a master's degree in software engineering! Other than that, it's great...lol.

I noticed the Good Sam Trip Planner does not include many parks that are competitors. Don't blame them, it's business. However, is anyone aware of a 'neutral' site that DOES include all the brands of camping and RV spots. Good Sam does have boxes to check to include public and other private RV Parks, but don't see Encore/Thousand Trails, for example. I like the Trip Planner and only started using since January. Unaware of what has changed, but like what is there except the omissions of competitive park chains.

Do any of the sites allow you to specify how far you want to travel each day? I don't need to know the campsites for the first 250 - 300 miles each day, it clutters the map. Same for gas stations. I don't need to know there is a Love's 11 miles from the house, but knowing where they are at the 250 mark would be important.

This is why I like the trip planner on "free trip.com". Take a look at this site and see what you think.

Make sure you print a copy or send yourself an email. My routes have disappeared twice. GS has admitted some "server problems"
My map moves around fine with my mouse cursor.
