Good Sam vs. AAA

Can anyone tell me whether you recommend AAA or Good Sam Roadside Assistance?

I have AAA, Sam might be nice for some, but NOT for me or mine.

Someone on here claimed that AAA would not tow your RV in cases where it's the tow vehicle that has broken down. You might search for AAA in posts within the last 3 months or so.

Got the AAA RV special, they will tow both if needed.

Regardless of which roadside assistance plan you decided to go with. Be sure they will tow your trailer if your tow vehicle breaks down. More importantly be sure they will find a safe place to leave your trailer while your truck is being repaired, especially if the repair is going to take more than a day. Don't take it for granted you can leave the trailer at the same facility where the truck is being repaired.

Or is it the other way around.

We just did an evaluation four major RV emergency road side assistance plans and liked AAA and Progressive the most. Good Sam is the most expensive and does provide a good plan. But we could not get a good feeling for the reliability of Good Sam. The forth plan was Coach Net that came with the RV when we bought it. Our research did not disclose the underwriter and we just gave up on them for that reason. The cost of Progressive is $12 a year total and you must have your RV insured with them. (we do) They will tow the truck or car. AAA is similar, but costs $37 more. We like the travel assistance from AAA and for $37 decided we would keep AAA and Progressive. Sorry Good Sam, we liked your product just could not get a good feeling for the underwriter. Distance can be an issue, but it appears all providers will tow you to a repair facility no matter how far it is or the limits of distance in your policy.

That was Me I had broke down twice and had to get someone else to tow my trailer. Read the fine print.I was told when I sign up for the rv part. They would tow my trailer but I would have been charge two tows which I would have been fine with that knowing my trailer was in my back yard. But it didn't work that way .so I drop the rv part.I still have AAA plus .Im happy with that part it

Good Sam is far superior to AAA. They don't have a limit on towing distance and they will tow the RV. Our driver showed up and loaded our F-150 on the rollback and hooked up the TT, took the TT to our house, backed it into the back yard through a 12' gate from the blind side. Then he took the truck to the shop of our choice where it was repaired. Let's see AAA do that.
