I don't want to over inflated or under-inflated

I keep mine at 100 psi. My Vengeance weighs around 17,000 lbs. or so loaded down on triple axles.

But I think I read recently that running them at 80 psi is not a problem if the wheels aren't rated.

Here is what Goodyear says in the inflation guide.

What does your wheel manufacturer say about that? Their name is on the wheel, email them about load capacity and inflation pressures.

Are the rims rated for the high capacity GY tire? Are they 6.5" wide?

You have to provide all the details about your original tires and then ask questions about replacements for them.

The bottom line for replacement tires is for them to have a load capacity equal to or above the OE tires. When using tires from another design or size the load capacity is achieved with inflation pressure. 80 PSI on the G614 tire = 3042# of load capacity.

If your trailer had OT tires sized LT235/85R16E your in the ballpark with the G614s, but, you are wasting a lot of money on tires that are just going to provide the same load capacity as the OE tires.

The load capacity on my rims are 3200 OT tires on my trailer work 80 pounds I'm running the g614 because I am tired of Chinese tires you never know when they'll blow out I might be overcautious but I'd rather be that way

I always run my trailer tires at Max PSI rating.
Flat Deck trailer has Load E- run them at 80.
Toy Hauler with Load G(G614)- run them at 110.

You installed G614 tires for safety reasons and they should be inflated to 110 psi. Just because your camper weighs 15000# doesn't mean the weight is evenly distributed across the axles. I have a 2016 Cardinal that weighs 14000# dry, but it weighs considerably more on the left side (as opposed to the door side). The reason it weighs more on that side is because the slideouts run almost the full length of the fifth wheel. In addition, cabinets run the full length with a large pantry, all appliances (inc. Residential ref), TV, fireplace, most of king bed and other storage are also on that side. Door side - slideout for dinette and TV lounge, bathroom and that's about it. Bottom line - unless you have weighed the load on each side of the camper and know the weights for sure - inflate to max load rating. I replaced the Goodyear Marathons that came on the Cardinal with the G614 for the same reason, as you. Yes, I run them at 110 psi.

I run mine at 110 to get the full rating out of them. I just feel safer that way and the 5er tows and handles fine with that pressure.

The OP is limited by the specs on his rims. I suspect someone told him it would be much better and provide more protection if he used a higher load ranged tire. Which is true, provided the rims are speced for the tires. There is no advantage buying a LRG tire then using it as a LRE.

At the very minimum the replacement tire must provide a load capacity equal to the OE tires via inflation.

Here it goes again on tires. cj here is how I interpret your question and answer. I also have an engineering background but do know when to compromise. I have been in exactly your situation except none of my tires were loaded beyond 2700 lbs. On a 2013 trailer I had 2 blowouts on Towmaster at 1 1/2 years and bought a set of Marathons when broken down and had a failure at 1 year with those tires. I was done with st E tires running at 90% of rated load and only rated at 65mph. I bought g614s knowing that I only had 6 inch 3200 lb rated wheels. Higher rated 6 hole 6 1/2" wheels on a 6000lb axle is a rare thing. There is another "expert" named tireman who talks about shear in an under inflated tire. He makes sense so I have chosen to inflate my tires to 90 psi which equates to the 3200lb load rating of the wheels. This matches GY inflation guidelines and offers a very safe load margin with overly built tires. I used to watch my stE tires in my rear view mirror on backing and they were so torqued it was frightfull. Watch how your 614s perform. While not scientific it is an indication of shear resistance. We are not gaining any load capacity but are getting a superior tire that should not tear up the side of our trailer.
