So I take it your name isn't really Mr. Havercamp? Next you will be claiming that isn't your photo either!

Their ability to clone a number for caller id is unnerving, every once in awhile my land line will ring - and my caller id says it is me - calling me..... Never have bothered to answer as i really don't need talk to myself.

I have gotten to the point that I don't answer the phone if i don't know the number, my hubby likes to play with them though. They must get enough takers to make this lucrative enough to keep at it.

Oh if I was calling me I'd be sure to answer...that's the only person I've found I can carry on a decent conversation with...

computer Scams

While on the computer, I have had a pop up that takes up the whole screen that says ( attention or warning, your computer has a virus, or Trojan, and say you need to click on the button to get in contact with a teck) and then the computer will freezes on the page, and the only way to go forward is to click on the button. It tells you that they will shut down your computer if you don't do it ( there is a voice telling you all of this) ( this has happen twice to me ) The only way to get out of it on the computer is to do a hard shut down, ( hole down the power button for a minute )I have had to do this twice in the last two months. I have been able to get back on to computer in a few minute. Just want to let people know what to do if it happens to them.

I can spot these callers. If I have time I will listen to everything they have to say and ask leading questions that lend themselves to the fear that the caller is selling. I keep it up until the caller realizes that they are being pulled in by me.

The most damage you can do to these butt heads, is to waist their time. They could have moved on to the next schmuck and do not mind being hung up on.

I would like to see an enforced law (do not call list is a joke) that said the marketers had to be within the country and within driving distance. Whole new dynamic.

Get the premium version of Malwarebytes, scan your computer, and let it run in the background all of the time. Should do the trick!

Sounds like you need to install some anti-virus and/or anti-malware software on your computer. There are lots of free ones out there that are pretty good.

I use Ad-aware, Malwarebytes and Zonealarm for a firewall.

Also you shouldn't have to completely shut down your computer. You should be able to do cntl-alt-delete and then just close whatever browser you are using.

Ctrl-alt-delete dose not seem to work on Window 10. I do have anti-malware/ anti- virus software. I hope it is working. I have done scan of the computer, and it comes up clean.

You might want to make sure "Windows Defender" is turned on.

It is fun to mess with them from time to time. I have Nomorobo so don't get hardly any calls any more. I used to get the Windows call and kept them going for a long while while saying I was on a Ubuntu computer. They had no idea what that was until I finally said hey AH, I am running a Linux OS. But wasted a lot of their time doing it.
