Great weekend in the Mountains of Idaho

We just got back from 3 days in the mountains of Idaho. On Wednesday evening while bringing our Coachmen Apex 215 RBX out from the side of our house, I managed to break a bone in my left foot.. After she-who-must-be obeyed got off work on Thursday (with my foot in a walking boot) we headed north from our House in Meridian Idaho. We arrived at our campsite at dusk, with some help we got set up for the weekend. I have lived in Idaho now for about 40 years and never really realized how beautiful the Sawtooth Mountains are. Even though I was hampered by the foot we explored the area and took almost 150 pictures. (thanks to the digital camera I am not broke) I hope you enjoy some the pictures for our campsite at Little Redfish Lake and Redfish Lake. I have to repeat, what a view we had from Chinook Bay Campground site number 9 on Little Red Fish Lake. We were to early so see the Chinook Salmon returning from the Pacific Ocean entering the Lake system in mass but Anita while in a Kayak on Little Red Fish Lake saw some as she put it HUGH fish....Yes the water was that clear! Oh by the way got into see the Podiatrist on Monday morning after returning and he put my foot in a walking cast for 4 weeks.

The warmest temp that I saw was 77.6 deg. Nights were down into the upper 30's and low 40's perfect...where we were at the elevation is about 6400 feet.

It is a beautiful area. I was in Glacier View last July. Another place for next year is across Stanley Lake. But I do not recommend Stanley Lake Campground; too noisy and the host could care less. However, on the road to the campground are dozens of great dispersed sites.

Thanks for the pictures! Awesome!! The Sawtooths IMO are one of the most beautiful places in NA. How could you live in Idaho for 40 years and not enjoy this most beautiful state in the US. If you can manage, go to McCAll during the week when no one is there. It is another beautiful area in Idaho. I could name many others. Although I've lived in the Midwest for 40 years, I get to Idaho every year. Will be at moms and my sister's in November. Cecil Andrus coined the motto: "What America Was!" Ssshhh, don't tell anybody. Let everyone else go to Colorado or Arizona. Let's keep Idaho to ourselves.

Beautiful photos! We've been there twice and it's high on our list of places to visit again. Add fall color into your photos and truly, it's one of the most beautiful places!!

Beautiful. We lived in Northern Idaho for about 6 years. I will have to keep this spot you were at to visit. I have not been to the Saw Tooths. When is a good time to see the Salmon run?

Gorgeous! Now on my list. Headed to Kentucky in 10 days to meet some family in Daniel Boone national forest but thinking the cooler less buggy area in Idaho would be preferable. 😉

I was there about 33 years ago, oh wait, we never left. I have been there several times, but just got to Bruneau sand dunes last year. Good Pics, hope the healing is doing well.

McCall

McCall in the middle of the week is also wonderful. We inherited some property in McCall from her dad, it is a block and half off of the lake. I spent the week before the forth of July up there and did not want to come home. But She-who-must-be-obeyed changed my mind.

The salmon run can start any time. It usually is at it peak end of August I think.

1st visit to Idaho back in June. Will get up there again ! ! Spent most of our time in Arco for Creator of the Moons National Park. Mountain View RV park had the best rib dinner and over the top Huckleberry Cheesecake. Also stayed just south of Salmon along the river. Fell in love with Idaho ! !

Beautiful place! My wife and I have had the pleasant opportunity to spend a few weeks in Sandpoint Idaho several years ago. My son worked at Coldwater Creek. He has since moved on but we still yearn to get back up there. Some of the most beautiful country I have traveled. We didn't have the 5th wheel then. We are trying to figure out how to get back. For us pulling from Kansas City takes at least 3 days out and 3 back. Would like to not make it a run and gun trip. Maybe when I retire??

Thanks for the memory's/photo's!!

Since I retired it has given me the chance to do a few trips that would have not been possibly a few years back. When the boss gets a chance to retire I am sure that we will do more. This spring we made a 4000 mile trip out to Iowa so that Anita could meet her Japanese pen pal of 43 years. Did it in a two week time period....not long enough.
