Half of Nebraska closed.

Don't even attempt to get thru Eastern Nebraska for awhile. Flooding has shut down most of eastern part of Nebraska, Western Iowa, Northern Missouri. I-29 is closed from Rock Port Missouri, north to Missouri Valley Iowa. Many small towns are completely cut off as all roads in and out are completely covered with water. 20 minute drive to my sons place and a hour to get back home, as you have to take a completely different route home. It's horrible here. RV park I posted pic of yesterday, was completely covered today with pretty much every RV there destroyed and some being pulled into the Missouri river.

Western half was closed the past two days because of the massive blizzard. Every highway closed west of Ogallala.

We got 1.5" of rain and 60's from that storm. It broke ice dams loose all at once and is sending a deluge of water at us.

18 inches of snow is the same as 1.5 inches of rain. The winds were over 80MPH as well.

Portions of I29 North of Kansas City are flooded. It looks like the Platt and Missourah rivers will be flooding downstream all the way to the Mississippi in the next week or two. This will back up many other rivers and campgrounds.

It's gonna be a lot like 2011 was. All that water is just going to keep heading south.
I know I-29 is closed from Rock Port Missouri all the way to Missouri Valley Iowa.

I lived many years in the cold of Michigan and northern Wisconsin. Now I am enjoying retirement in eastern NC. Who needs snow? This year we have camped in Jan and Feb so far!

And when all that snow melts it will have to go somewhere as runoff.

Yeah we did not have much of a winter in the south this year. I was complaining to the DW about there will be a lot of bugs this summer (no hard winter kill). Looking at the news of what the rest of the country has been going through makes me be thankful for the mild weather we have had.

I posted this pic yesterday. I drove by today and the Cherokee in the photo, the only thing visible is a black line of the roof edge.

That is a seasonal RV park that just opened last summer 2018. Today it's total devastation and not a single RV is salvageable. Many are overturned, some are crushed into others and several have been pulled into the Missouri river by the strong currents. It's horrible to look at.

Any idea how far west that extends? We were planning on going through there in 10 days, but further west on Hwy 81 headed South, then 30 West headed to Grand Island.

Haven't heard of much or any flooding out that way. Check anything along the Platte River and check Nebraska 511 for road conditions.

Had plans on doing that, we were going to head towards Kearney to catch the Sandhill Crane migration, so if Platte is risky maybe we will just scrap that thought.

81 into Columbus is closed. Columbus is under water...entire town. May be tough coming down that way. Grand Island looks ok, but flooding on 30 to the southwest of Grand Island. I'll grab the 511 link and post it.

You know the area. Out to Boystown is ok. South to Sarpy is ok. Bellevue is ok. Anything beyond that is a freaking mess. About a 45 minute detour to get from Bellevue to Plattsmouth.
