Handicap accessibility.

Im looking for ideas on how I can possibly make my camper handicap accessible. I have a Coachmen 310BHDS TT. My wife was just diagnosed with ALS. She is fine at the moment, I expect that to start changing and I want to ensure that we can continue to enjoy our RV trips for as long as possible.

Doesn’t help with your specific trailer, but there are some class As that are specifically designed to be handicap accessible. My girlfriend is in the same position, but with a different condition, and we full time currently. I’m in a Shasta Oasis 25RS and have no clue for how I would do it...no way we could get a chair inside and nowhere to go once we did...I did use pallets to build a “porch” which made the step in a bit easier for her. Also, they make steps that are much closer together and have a hand rail...might work until she loses all mobility...

That's a fairly open floorplan, so you're lucky there. You may need to narrow down the wall to get to the bed, and you may need to enlarge the bathroom door. but it shouldn't be too big a problem.

You can also get narrow wheelchairs that are only 21½" wide if that's acceptable.
You can use a pair of loading ramps to get her in and out. That's what we do for Mom.

If you have a place near you that outfits vehicles to make them handicap accessible, you may reach out to them. They probably don’t do TT’s, but they my be able to give you some advice or mention something that you haven’t thought about.

A quick Bing search turned up New England Wheelchair Van | Boston Massachusetts MA wheelchair van, ramps, hand and foot control, sales, service and adaptive equipment.
