Happy Weekend Folks - What are your plans?
We have a good morning thread running, so why not a weekend plans thread.
It is chilly here this morning in Central Virginia, 34, with a high of 53 expected.
I'm heading to Blacksburg this afternoon the the Florida State football game. Should be good and cold up on the mountain by kick-off. The rest of the weekend will consist of doing all the things I should do today instead of going to the game.
Those of you that get to camp, enjoy!!!

I'm just going to relax - and ponder on what penalty I'm going to have pay for avoiding all the things on the honey-do list. Gee, Kim, I might even spend a few minutes rooting for the "Other Virginia Team".

I'm stuck at work I've heard working in Florida is a "Tropical depression". If I can get out of here at noon, I've still got to go home and work on a boat so I can return it to it's rightfull owner. Sunday I get to go to the In laws for dinner.

Several years ago my wife worked as a trainer for a company that had customers all over the world. One place she had to go to work for two weeks was Hawaii. Talk about depressing. She had to go to work everyday while all the tourists were playing.

No worries Stan..I'm at work right now. I get paid to sit and wait for something to happen.
That means, while many people are enjoying the 3 day weekend that the Veteran's have provided them...this Veteran will be at work again.
Remember to pay your respects to all Veteran's this holiday...but let's not forget to pay respect to those which gave the ultimate sacrifice for their beloved country.
God bless them!

Mesquite crosses? What are they?
Working with son on a school project - Animals of NB. We picked the Eastern Cougar - which is supposed to extinct here but there have been sightings. Same beast as the Florida Panther I guess. We're making a diarama of one stalking a deer... son wants blood but I think we'll pass on that detail.
Other than that Remembrance Day service at church.

simply a cross made from Mesquite wood
Mesquite is a native tree to Texas and is I believe the 3rd or 4th hardest wood in the world. I sand it progressively with finer and finer paper until it is super smooth then finish with tung oil which gives it a beutiful burgandy color. 3-4 coats of tung oil with 800 grit sandings between and a final buff using a terrycloth towel on an random orbital sander.
after I get some finished I'll post some pics

Just finished winterizing the Sandpiper a few minutes ago. Took almost 7 gallons of pink stuff. I probably could have used half as much if I would have remembered that I had removed the anode rod and had forgotten to flip the bypass valve for the WH. I bet I'm the only one in our neighborhood with a patch of pink grass.

Don't worry...the grass won't be pink for long. It's going to be DEAD!
I know...I've done it.

We just returned from our last camping trip to day @ 2:30pm,from Hershey PA. Before we left the camp ground I drained all my water lines and hot water heater tank, so when I get home It is ready for winterizing. The weather was rainy and cold with a temp in the low 40's, this was Friday evening. I went out side to turn on the gas for heat but found that both tanks were empty!! I have no clue where it went? I had to go to the rangers station an beg for propane. The ranger was not suppose to leave is post, but I guess he feld sorry for us, so he filled one tank, and that held us all weekend. Sat was ugly and cool in the low 50's over cast however we were able to have a camp fire witch lasted about 5 hours. After the camper fire we went in side and had some homemade chili that my wife made, and then had camping friends over for a game of Monopoly and of course my wife WON! Sunday morning was bright and sunny with frost on the ground, by mid day as we were ready to leave it warmed up nicely. It turned out to be a good weekend. The end of October is normally the end for use, but this time we wanted to try a weekend in November. I think the end of October is good.

Propane goes in a hurry when it's cold outside! I've run mine dry before too.

Another weekend is upon us, and this one might be long for many of you. Those of you lucky enough to be able to go camping can brag to the rest of us where you are going. Otherwise, what are your plans? I have another football game to go to and then it is back to leaf raking. If anyone needs any spare leaves, please let me know. I'll send you all you want.
