Help match TV to TT

I could use some help on suggestions for matching a TV to a TT. My DD & SIL have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab with a 4.7 V8 and 3.55 rear end. He looked at a chart by Trail Manor which says he can pull 6050. The have 2 small boys and would like something with bunks.

I’m new to the TT side of camping myself so I don’t have much knowledge regarding what might fit for them. Anyone with the same or similar TV or previous experience that could give us good advice would be appreciated.

I am not the tow police but is this a manual trans?

http://dodgeram.info/2003/load-tow/1500.html

I try and notice I say try to use the 80% rule.

I have pulled 4700 Dry weight with a similar truck in rating and power and it was hard in the hills on the truck.

My 2cents

The last tow vehicle I had was a Camaro, so I'll pass on offering sage advice on this topic.

Surveyor SV235RS

Riverdog, we just bought a Surveyor SV235RS with the bunks up front. The weight with full gas tanks is around 4400 lbs with a hitch weight of 450 lbs.

My TT is a Honda Ridgeline that has a tow rating of 5000 lbs. The Honda pulls the trailer fine and is OK in the right lane going 60 mph. I am eyeing a Toyota Tundra nowadays but for the short camping trip every 3 months we plan this coming year, the Honda will do fine.

We really like this new trailer and the bunks are wider than you think. We found the kids like to sleep up top and the bottom bunk is as wide as a double bed and the kids use it as their playroom because the shelves underneath hold toys and games and a small television with a cable hookup and power. Good luck with your search, that is half the fun!

Thanks all.........cyclic - I'll have them look at a Surveyor. I've seen them out here so I know there's a dealer locally.
