Help with Camping World Service

Camping World in MyrtleBeach has had my 2018 Forest River Berkshire XLT in for Maintenance for almost 9 months(since January), for Minor Repairs. They’ve lost the record jacket,(I had to point out my RV in the service lot), waited on 5th Wheel parts (even though it’s a Class A), ordered the wrong parts including windshield, and now, the latest update is: they’ve received the windshield, but they sent it out for install to a small place and the owner won’t be back for a week. On top of that, they can’t confirm what other work has been completed…. They’ve offered $1700 for loss of use(I rejected). Do I have any recourse? Legal standing? Are there any laws in South Carolina that can help me?

Unfortunately, Camping World is known to kidnap lots of customer’s units with undetermined work completion dates. It’s too late for you to know, that if you had done some searching here on this forum,about how almost everyone suggests taking your business anywhere but Camping World.

Sorry for your loss of use, and the fact that they haven’t even really started the work. It’s going to be a battle for sure. Laws to your advantage? Not likely.

Personally, I'd take the $1700 and find another place to do the repairs- other than the windshield. The Camping World near me does good service in a timely manner on my rig, but not all are like that.

Not all service centers have the technicians to perform the services they offer and frequently they send your rig to someone else for the actual work... at their mark-up price.

if anyone at camping world sees this post they will easily work out who you are.


Don't be surprised if that offer is rescinded.

You obviously talked to the boss man..... cause the offer for "non use"

I reckon this is fair offer.


IF it was MY RV...

they would not have any opportunity to forget / loose to do the repairs
Because I would be on the phone at regular intervals and nicely.

"hi, hows things going up there?"

"can't you put it into some working condition , so I can use it?"


so how much did you really talk with them during the 9 months?

You can PAY a lawyer to sue
or put in a small claim at the local courts

BUT I reckon they will probably use the can't get parts right now.


To be awarded damages you will have to prove what you are OUT of pocket...
lost deposits , lost/cancelled reservations



Monthly Payments on the rv ... won't be reimbursed as you need to pay for it whether you use it or not


I doubt you would recover anywhere near what they have offered!
