Holes Drilled in Trailer

Picked up a new 2016 Palomini TT from Camping World in Akron. Noted two 3/16" holes drilled approx 12" horizontally apart in the upper left rear corner of the body. Looks as if there was (or going to be) some bracket or mount installed. The dealer covered the holes with 2" scotch tape and said the factory had drilled them by mistake, that they were documented on the trailers record and that they would be repaired by my local Camping World Service Department. No further information was known or provided. Anyone know what they might have been for?

Over drilled something inside the trailer.. Did you take this home? I would have been telling them to fix or I am gone!

Yes, the dealer would never get my name on anything before I left.

$30,000 RV and a Scotch Tape repair... Oh no! Homey don't play that way!

Imagine that, a Camping World actually fixing something. Be interested to see how they plan on fixing that. My guess is some epoxy and a new sticker to cover it.

My position would be that their mistakes on my new trailer are NOT my problem. I also would have walked away from this trailer, at least until it was repaired as I explain below. To fix this correctly, those holes need to be filled with the proper fiberglass resin/fiber material, sanded, and painted to match the rest of the trailer---blended, not spot painted.
That's the repair you need to INSIST on, do not accept some sloppy patch/paint job repair!!!

Would have, could have, should have. It's a done deal, now to get it fixed is the OP's situation.

I'm wondering myself how all this would have, could have, should have advice is going to help the OP, other than bring his spirits down. Thankfully he already states it is documented and repairs will be fixed. Just hoping they "fix it right"!

This info would be more helpful. JS.

I would insist on an extended warranty at least on that side of the TT. Tell them they don't know how long the holes were open to the weather. At a min I would insist that CW sched you in for an immediate appointment to fill/seal the holes. A little cosmetic damage is one thing, I wet wall is another.

What is on the inside that could have been added? Is that the bathroom?

We had 2 holes drilled thru the side of ours, the factory covered them with tire tourqing stickers. When I "de stickered " the trailer, there they were! I took pictures and just included them with the 20 other items that Haylette RV screwed up/missed,includeing a baseball sized dnt in the skirting. The trailer was at the factory all winter, they did a comendable gel coat repair on the holes and replaced the skirting, among other things.

I would bet those holes line up perfectly with some white plastic push pin anchors used on the top edge of the shower surround inside.

Holes

Camping World accepted the holes and probably taped them. Who knows how much water got in before the holes got taped. Good luck with the inside wall, once moisture gets in wall paper bubbles and mold grows. Had to have the rear wall totally replaced because rear window wasn't sealed properly (took a year to bubble - replaced under warranty). Just think replacing the whole wall - could take awhile and you have to hope the insides match when they're done. Don't keep it too long.

How about mounting an ODS light in that area, since the wiring holes are obviously provided. The dealer would probably be glad to toss you one at no cost. Wire it to an existing light switch on your control panel, problem solved.

Depending on how large the holes are, its not very likely that much rain could have entered the wall. I would see if CW or the manufacturer would come across with a couple of motion sensor lamps and warrant any future water damage.
