Hot water heater

So I just winterized my trailer. I took the anode out of the hot water heater and drained it, but it seems like there is still water in there after draining it. Is this normal? I switched all the valves in the back and the bypass so antifreeze did not go in the tank.

There may be a little in the bottom but this is not a problem leave the anode out.

As posted already the tiny amount of water left inside will have plenty of room to expand.

If you do chose to leave the anode out fill the hole with a towel or something to keep the spiders and such out of the tank.

I would also suggest you pick up a thread chaser to keep rust cleaned out of the tanks threads.

I take a clean dishrag, push the end into the anode hole a little bit, and let it hang down. Takes a little bit of time, but it wicks most of the rest of the water out of the tank. Put some plumbers tape on the threads and put the anode back in finger tight to keep the bugs out.
