Problem here is the insides eventually look worse than the filter after a while.
Years ago I had a very high end water filter system at home. The filter was changed once a year. When I would change it, I could readily identify chlorinated hydrocarbons. This was from the town water. My wife commented to me about this discussion, and pointed out that you don't generally hear of people getting sick drinking campground water. Note how much more difficult it is to get into the nice campgrounds and the plethora of people camping today.
This is like all of the people having problems with Newmar's and Tiffins. You generally only hear from those with problems. However, there are probably equal or greater numbers having a great experience, who don't participate in public forums.
Each will do what works for them. I drink campground water, but am contemplating a better quality filter. Water at home goes through multiple filters.
