We use 1/2" security cable to secure our Honda 3000. I've used bolt cutters many times in the past and found that the bolt cutters require some time and maximum effort to cut a stout cable but they will cut a chain link fairly easily. I've found that an acetylene torch is the quickest and most effective tool to cut high quality cable and there aren't all that many dirt bag thieves using them as a tool of their trade. Also, if a padlock is of good quality it takes a very good set of bolt cutters to cut them.
