How to change out new trailer tires?

ok so I bought new G/Y endurance tires to replace my brand new China tires on our 21ds Micro Lite. I don't want to just take trailer to a tire shop ,who knows how they will jack up to change tires. I would like to take off 2 wheels myself and take them there have done and then the remaining 2. So my question how would you do that as far as jacking up trailer, or backing up on ramps to lift wheels to remove. would it hurt to have trailer weight on one axle while removing a tire on each side?

I did all 4 at once. I put cribbing under the tongue as I don't trust the jack with extra movement and side forces. then heavy duty jack stands just behind the axle, could use cribbing here too.

Opinions very greatly on having the load on a single axle. In my opinion it is not an issue as it is a static load and I believe the dynamic load from bumps, potholes etc is much higher. I wouldn't leave it on a single axle longer then needed such as for storage.

I did this, jacked up with hydraulic jack on trailer frame. Put jack stand under to support.
Removed 2 tires went to tire place, then did other side. So I made 2 trips to tire store.

You can use the spare on one side and a jack stand on the other...If you only want to lift one side at a time.

I did the same thing except I hooked up the truck just to make sure the trailer didn't move. Hauled the tires in another vehicle.

Replaced all four POS Castle Rock tires with Goodyear Endurance last summer, and went up a load range to boot.

Parking lot at my tire dealer was too small for the trailer, so jacked up the trailer at home, put jack stands all around, removed all four tires and put them in back of truck. Off to the tire store making sure they balanced the tires and replaced the rubber valve stems with metal ones. Back home and put on the new Goodyear shoes.

Have since gone on two long trips with a total of 10,000 miles. Love these tires.

I bought a 2018 Cherokee Grey Wolf 27RR Toyhauler. It does have the castle rocks. Pulled from OH to AZ and down to TN; no problems as of yet. Does the endurance tire improve towing in anyway or just a safe feeling knowing the China bombs are gone?

I drive up on my leveling blocks . . . one tire each side . . . remove two tires at a time. I leave T/V attached rather than chock tires. Been doing it this way for about 40 years. Never worried about weight on one axle given that I'm not moving and the axle needs to support flat tires anyway.

Better tire all the way around. Many times the tires that come on the trailers have just enough load limit rating for the trailer. It's always better to have load rating at least the next size up.

Many times for trailers with 14" rims going up a load size can"t be achieved.

They are bad news. Get rid of them.

Some people claim the towing is improved with a smoother ride, I'm not sure one way or the other. But you certainly have a safer tire. It would be money well spent changing them out.

I drove on the tire changing ramp that I have and swapped out the spare for one of the tires, drove off the ramp, positioned the ramp behind the spare, drove on the ramp and pulled the other tire. Did those two tires, reversed the procedure and repeated on the other side. It was a little tedious but required no special equipment other than the tire changing ramp that was in my trailer. Make sure to have the shop lug balance the tires if you can. Also check the air pressure as mine came back under inflated!

My understanding the Castle Rocks are load range c and Goodyear's are d in 14inch size, also Castle rocks are speed rated AT 75 MPH and G/y are 87 mph. .some have said less rolling resistance....debatable but no doubt a much stronger tire...My main concern was possible damage to trailer in the case of a blowout.

Thumbs up

Put the camper up on jack stands and removed all 4 tires. Took the tires to a shop and had the new tires installed and balanced. Easy Peasy!

I purchased 5 new tires at Sams Club and had them to balance and install them. I supervised the jacking of my trailer, making sure that the mechanic understood that he could not jack on the axle except where the spring shackle was located. I could do this without violating their policy of not being in the work bays because the removal and installation took place outside. I watched the balancing from the open bay door. I realize your wanting to do this yourself, but why put yourself through all the headache when the cost will be the same.

For the height you are going to lift it - an inch off the ground or less - it will not be an issue to jack one axle, one side, or diagonal. Just make sure you check your manual and know where to place the jack. Some axles can't support he trailer jacked on the axle tube. Support with jack stands.

I think you can find a good shop that specializes in tires can handle RV tire changes reliably. I know of a couple of them here in Central Florida. I am not talking about places like Tire Choice or Walmart. Some of the tractor trailer shops can handle the job. If none were around, I would take each tire individually to have it mounted and spun balanced. Could be an all day job depending on how well you know the people at the shop.

I had my CastleRocks swapped for Endurance at our local America's Tire. I made sure the tech knew to use a bottle jack on the frame between our tor-flex axles. He did one side at a time, and all went well.
