LandJ,
we should start out by confirming that you have an iPad or similar device. Recently I found out that my attorney, college decreed nurse sister...didn't have one at the age of 62. How can she exist?
So point 1. Is get a good tablet, my preference is an iPad, then start adding apps. We have the Department of Transportation apps for road conditions in the northern States for snow cover reports and then ones for weather, camp grounds, restaurants, gps, Google earth, and a bunch more.
While we are driving we have a Verizon Myfi to get access to the Internet on the run. That combined with a cell phone allows us to call ahead for a reservation when we know how many more hours we want to drive.
We do have Allstays and use it the most but we also use Good Sam and Passport America. I'm sure there are more but that seems to fill our time parameters.
Passport America definitely gets you the best prices but you have to read the fine print. Most campgrounds have restrictions on how many days the prices are good for and in some cases restricts the months the prices are good for. Out in Arizona the prices may only be good for July, August & September but not available in February, March and April.
Whatever you select we wish you the best!
