You are in a house. I wouldn't want to be in a camper in those kind of winds.

You don't have to comment! You are not fleeing anything!

We are just trying to help those who are in danger,

..and I am trying to offer advice to those who need to evacuate. Setting up camp in the kind of wind expected at your house is illadvised. Your offer is indeed generous but impractical for RVers.

Florence

Anyone evacuating due to Florence with RV/Travel Trailer and wanting to go as far as GA, I have room and can accommodate on my property for a few days. Understand most campgrounds are full. Hour East of Atlanta.

If anyone fancies a road trip, up here in MA they are forecasting blue skies and sunshine this weekend.

The camper is in Pigeon Forge TN and we are back home. Thanks for everyone’s advice. The storm keeps changing a little father south but it’s still going to be bad here. A lot of rain, as soon as the winds slow down I’ll go back to Pigeon Forge, I can get the camper home. Interstate 40 will flood between me and Wilmington south.

Yes that will be the next concern. After the storm is over how long it will be before the waters reseed and the roads are cleared to return. Our son lives in Wilmington and is very concerned what he will return to, but at least he is here and safe inland.

We have room in the Gardens RV community in Crossville TN if you need. DM me for more info. Some full hook ups but at least space for you to get out of there.

Just about time for all the weather personnel to tell everyone to leave. Then they will go out and hang on street signs when the storm comes in.

For those who are in the potential flood areas ( and perhaps some of you who aren't ), you might want to consider downloading the ZELLO app for your smartphone.

During Harvey, that was one of the apps that rescuers used to find people who needed help. It's used like a walkie talkie.
Hurricane Florence prep: smartphone apps to help you stay safe - Story | WJZY

The Louisiana Cajun Navy is headed your way, and they have a website and are on Facebook. They and other people from all over the country who brought their boats to help saved many, many lives in Harvey.

Also, find the settings on your phone that help you conserve power. When you lose power, you quickly learn that keeping the phone charged becomes a high priority in a storm. If you have a backup battery pack, keep it charged as long as you can. Also, if you've got 2 phones, turn one off until needed.

Stay safe.

Stay safe everyone....
Did not read the entire thread but we did get thru Irma last year successfully

1. filled all the water tanks to add weight
2. painters tape around all the seams in the windows & vents

3. cable ties to keep the awning in place
4. ratchet straps with vortex screws attached to the frame.

Maybe overkill but I would do all of it again (& was very happy I removed the painters tape the next day so the little bit that got in could dry out quickly). Getting rid of our 2 big oak trees that came down took a bit more work (& had to in order to get our camper back out!)
