Which is why some of us had such a hard time trying to understand the issue.

LOL.. in all my years, I never heard of interior plugs for sewer hoses and you had never heard of exterior caps... small world! Carry on...

I found these. https://www.campingworld.com/rv-sewe...gs-104644.html Thanks for reminding me. The fiasco I described happened on our last trip out.

It was a bit out of angst. We no longer store at an RV place that has a dump, as I now have an enclosed building to store in, but I can't dump there, and I can't dump at home. If we don't dump at our last stop, our only option is to go to the city sanitation dump where all of the honey wagons empty.

I think I may have also been distracted by the size of the dump pipe, as at this place it's about an 8" port. I was thinking I better not let go of the dump hose as I didn't want it dangling in there, and certainly didn't want to drop it into this huge tank I assume is under there. That's probably what distracted me, and I forgot about the caps.
As embarrassed as I was at the time, I can look back at it and laugh because no one got hurt, and nothing got damaged. Worse things can happen.

I'll have to see what brand hose I have. The hose is still in the original box which fits nicely inside the dump bay, but it's not a cheap one.
It is the first one I ever bought, because our last MH we bought used and all of that stuff came with it. It had a cheap, stiff, plastic vinyl hose and I didn't want a sewer hose that would be fighting me to retain its memory, so I bought a good one when we got this new MH.

Mistakes when dumping almost never happen when you're alone.

Makes one want to wear dark glasses, a fake mustache, and a a "hoodie" so you wont be recognized later.

I had a similar experience with the interior plugs. Tried to empty the grey tank. Couldn't figure out what was going on. Slept on it and had an "I shoulda had a V8" moment the next morning.

Hey I waited for my second time dumping, well maybe first too. I didn’t close the valves. Went to dump second time and removed the cap on the camper! Whoosh!

Fortunately I was quick to close the valve and just had spray on my arms! LOL.
