I95 Delaware tunnel

Hello everyone, here is one of those questions that may get asked all the time. But i can't find it in the history on the forum. So, the tunnel in Delaware on i95 can an RV with a propane tank attached go through the tunnel or do i have to go around. On my way south i went around to avoid problems, also beginning of trip. But on way back it will be at the end of trip. Thank you and happy camping

No tunnels in de, but ones in Baltimore MD. And yes you need to take 695 and go around.

I agree with doc73. Here's a rundown of the tunnels in the PA/MD/VA area that have propane restrictions that I'm aware of:

Yeah I heard it was a hefty fine (300 plus $$). You can go east over the bridge and pay the toll or go West and void the toll. I have learned to just do the bridge because we get screwed in traffic no matter what time I come through.

I find east and the bridge is less traffic.

If they don't fine you, it can be worse- they could make you exit the highway into Baltimore!

Other folks may be around to tell you to take 301 down past the whole lot. You skip Baltimore and D.C. that way. But then it's surface streets and lights.

I have taken that was before to head into Virginia. It is not TOO bad, but yes, it is traffic lights and the such.

When heading south on I95 I always exit the last exit in Del. for 896 South follow it to US 301 over the Bay Bridge and if at night I will stay on US50 until I hit South I95. The only thing that could be a problem is during the summer as this is route to the De and Md beaches, so don't do it on a Friday or Sunday.
