I'm a fat guy. I need to fix my roof. Weight Concerns
I weigh 300lbs. I need to fix my plumbing stack cover - I was washing my camper last week and the brush broke the cover off. Just 10 years of UV exposure.
I bought a new camco one and need to replace it. Its smack dab in the middle of the roof, so theres no getting to it from a ladder, I actually need to get on there.
Will the roof support me? Should I use some plywood to lay on to spread my weight out more? Or could that potentially cause more damage to the EDPM roof?

I thought about that, but I don't know anyone. My dad is the same size. (just a note - I'm not THAT fat. I'm 6'4" and pretty muscled), and my kids aren't old enough.

First off, I'd replace it with a galvanized steel one, they never break. Secondly, I'd bribe a skinny neighbor to do it. 300 pounds on the roof in a concentrated spot (even with plywood) is asking for trouble. Or have your DW handle it...

Fat or not, 300 pounds is only going to wind up doing damage.

Lay out an old blanket or tarp and place a sheet of 1/2 plywood on top of that.

Man I have tried that so many times. I needed help painting my metal roof. Had 2 different day laborers no-show on me.
I've got a neighbor whose broke as crap, and you'd THINK he'd want odd-jobs like this, but if you offer, its always "oh, well, I gotta give the boy a bath" or "I promised I'd help the wife rearrange the furniture in the living room." Weren't you just complaining you can't make ends meet, and you'd rather do that than make a quick $40?
I think I'm just gonna take the risk of doing it myself, and use some lumber to spread the load out.

Drive to the nearest interstate exit. Our closest interstate had no less than TWELVE 'homeless' folks today (guess church is out of the question for poor folks), and I did not see a single one older than 40, most younger. Go offer them $30 at END of job to come do it.
But.......be prepared to not be successful.
And to add a little levity, one guy had a sign saying "Why Lie? I need a joint!"....
Seriously.

I see them on I75 at the 210 MM in Ohio all the time. You come up to the light and there they are with the 'Will work for food signs'. Problem is, they want money not food. Money for Heroin. Big problem around here.
Most of them look like 5 miles of bad road anyway.
Lay down a sheet of plywood and go for it. If you cave it in, call your insurance carrier and tell them a limb fell on it....

I'm 6'-3" and 330 lbs. haven't been on our current RV roof, but did get on our old one (2005 with rubber roof) with no damage. I put some cardboard sheets out if the roof and laid a piece of plywood over them, then made sure to only scoot on my belly...NO standing!

If ya can't figure a way to do it yourself, I'd take it to a bona-fide dealer/shop. Having some 3rd party ( Craigslist/homeless/Home Depot day laborer ), opens you up to serious litigation should they fall off the roof and get injured. Not worth it.
