The good news is that it is labeled as new per the VIN, so you have recourse on warranty and it holds its value as a new camper. If it were me, I would cut my losses and sell it ASAP as a new trailer while it still has value, and then use the lessons learned to buy another new one, maybe even another brand that doesn't pull these stunts.

Really?
Have you not read the rest of the thread?
It is not a ' stunt', but standard practice.
This is not a case of 'buyer beware', as the unit is what it says it is.

What are you talking about? I didn't say anything about it being a stunt. I said that if it were ME, I would sell it while it still has value.....

Self imposed buyers remorse. On big ticket items I tend to do a fair amount of due diligence upfront so I will be happy with it for a long time as I'm not one to flip things often. When I find something I like at a good price I'll pull the trigger and what I've learned about myself is if I keep shopping around it leads to disappointment when I find it cheaper or better somehow.
My trailer too has rust all over the undercarriage and my table just cracked and one of my brakes is not working. What will I do? ...paint it, replace the table, and fix the brake - it's all part of the RV experience.
My advice to OP if he ever returns is to run with it. Enjoy your new trailer and consider yourself lucky to be in a position to have one.

Interesting post; I always wondered why the underside of my Solera was so rusty when I purchased it "supposedly new." Yeah, how old was that frame/ axles really??

X2 on the frames, when I toured the Flagstaff plant I noticed a lot of things being stored outside, frames, water heaters covered in plastic, showers, and of course all plumping and fixtures. Plant did not have inside storage for a good bits if the components that go into trailer assembly. The way the frames are line set from out side storage to inside, they incur a few scratches as well. A little sanding and spray paints covers it up. Rvs do not go through the undercoating process that autos do, would greatly add to the expense would be my guess!

That is what I told my wife when we got married (30 years ago). She said that she wanted a new car.... I said you better pick the one that you want for awhile, because we will not be trading very often. She said the other day that she wants a new car (again... ?) . I said that she picked out the first one.... and 'now' she is not happy with it.....?
High maintenance women.... who 'needs' a CD player and GPS and back up camera in their car?

The more gadgets and electronics means more things to break and go wrong. I'd love to be back in the day you did not have all the extra crap that will break on vehicles.

Rv's change the same as auto's in September, and you also need to remember no matter weather trailer or motorhome the chassis is still different from all the numbers shown!!
As for rust on frame they are built up to a year before they are used and sit outside of the factory, so when it comes in to be built it has some surface rust on it!
As for model shown on the net always take that with a grain of salt (read the fine print on bottom of page (subject to change) as it always dose)
SO if you are looking for a 2016 but think it is a 15 you have to go by vin number as they are provided by the feds!
Hope this helps and Happy Camping

Buying a new RV does not mean everything in it was made yesterday. RV manufacturers ( as do most all manufacturers) do not buy one of an item they need to build your unit. They order 100's or 1000's of units ( AC, tires etc) to get a price and shipping break. If you are worried that a component on your new RV isn't brand new, don't look at the date code on your tires.

Same here, we purchased a 2016 salem cruise lite but the build date was April 2015. It is the same as the 2015 models. I called the Oregon corporate office and they said the 2016 model changes would not take place until around July or August of 2015. They continue to use the 2015 instock materials, fabrics, and accessories. I had the same problem when I started looking at the brochures for 2016. I questioned the dealer because I thought they had sold me a 2015 for the same price as a 2016. The 2015 models were about 2K less in money. But we picked this one out on the lot because of the interior colors. Oh well, it's new and the changes for 2016 were minor.

Disgusted
At this point, be less concerned with the build date, and a lot more concerned with the build quality. Let's all of us stop with the little jokes about "must have been built on a Friday" ... and start getting righteously angry about the crappy quality of many rv manufacturer products. Forest River definitely included!!

What kind of confuses me about quality control, at least for the Heritage Glen camper (I don't have enough knowledge about the others) I've been told by the sales manager for Heritage Glen Ohio region that most of the line workers are Amish. This was brought up because they are all off on Good Friday which is when I want to take a tour since I'm going to be in Goshen having work done on my unit. I would have thought the quality would be to a higher standard since typically Amish are known for their great workmanship.

They may be known for it but from what I have seen they can really do some carpentry hack jobs. I have had Amish, and worked with Amish on too many construction projects to remember them all, and I have yet to see this great workmanship they are known for. I can also confirm they are the most unsafe and dangerous people to work around you ever want to see. They do however make some damn good bacon.
"Amish craftsmanship" looks really good in advertisements but doesn't mean a whole lot.

This is my take on Amish quality based what I’ve seen. Amish are no different than Catholics, Protestants, or any other people when it comes to working in a factory. They do what they are told by management and do it to the best of their ability. If they aren’t given enough time to do a job right then so be it.
Having taken a few factory tours I personally believe that many subassembly jobs, I.E. valances, drawers, putting openings in holding tanks, etc., are piece-rate jobs. I watched one worker putting together valances with a power stapler and I had to stop looking. She was working so fast I thought for sure she would staple a finger to a valance.
The RV industry uses the Amish image of quality as a marketing tool. My opinion of course.
