For out of state visitors, the non commercial vehicle entrance fee is between $9-$12 for the day of arrival. If you are camping, they will then give you a rear mirror tag that will cover you for the remainder of your camping stay with no additional daily entrance fees.
If you are looking to stay as close to Michigan as possible, Indiana Dunes State Park is definitely one of my favorites (if you are lucky enough to find a campsite on the days you want to stay). Pokagon State park is on the eastern side of the Indiana/Michigan border and is also highly recommended. We'll actually be up there 5/27-5/31 ourselves! Another good park is Potato Creek State Park just south of South Bend, IN. We like that park also! Hope that helps! Kris
*NOTE* Indiana state parks are closed until Sunday 5/24, so if you are looking to camp over the whole Memorial Day weekend, you're only bet is to find an open private campground to stay.
