Even the 6.7 has some issues. I know. I had two of them blow up. A 2012 sucked a valve and a 2018 had an oil pump failure. Both required total engine replacement.

The tranny in my 1997 Ford Ranger is built by Mitsubishi it says so on the tranny in big raised letters.

Yeah, and it's too bad too. The 6.4L was a towing beast. I loved my 2008 Lariat, but it had one too many trips to the dealer, and I traded it out of fear of a "final" trip. For a 2011 with the 6.7L...see "the rest of the story" below.

Yep. I had my 2011 for 8 years with only a couple of minor issues fixed under warranty. Then, with only 78K on it, it "sucked a valve", as your 2012 did. I couldn't see spending so much on a new engine, so I traded it for my 2019. I have high hopes for the 2019, and plan on it being my last truck (famous last words??).

You sure it didn't say Mazda? One of those smaller trucks were built on a joint venture between the two.
Ford used Mazda manuals in the F150 too. Base models with the 300 six and 5 speed all used Mazda transmissions.

They also had an insufficient number of head bolts. Major design flaw.

Back in those years if you had an F100 with a 4sp, you had Ford transmission, if had an F250 with a 4sp you had a Dodge transmission. New Process made the heavier duty transmissions, which was a Chrysler company.
If you keep going back you will find that both Ford and Chrysler had their bodies made by Briggs, Walter O. Briggs died in the early 50s and Chrysler bought everything.

I find myself usually in agreement with you, Mike, but I have to diverge here. I just posted in another thread a couple of days ago about how much I liked my IH 400 ci diesel in my 1984 F250. I got 20 mpg empty and 15 mpg towing with that engine (four on the floor). I still brag about it.

You are 12 years out of date. Ford Powerstroke engines are Ford built since 2010. Funny how some people are so out of touch. You probably don't even know Cummins is not made by Stelantis.

Ford has built their own Powerstroke engines since 2010 in the 2011 model year. Volkswagen bought Navistar after 2011 so Ford trucks never had Volkswagen engines. In addition, Ford builds their own engines in every vehicle they make. You are so mistaken.

I'll gladly brag about my 6.0 Powerstroke in my 06 F350. No one want's to hear that though. Parts are crazy expensive though. I really like Cummins because parts are cheaper but otherwise all the Powerstroke, Duramax, and Cummins are all good. My commuter car is a VW with a 2.0 diesel, I could brag about that one too.

I wonder if it was. A lot of the Isuzu badged Diesel motors are actually made By Yanmar
The Chevy Luv diesel was actually a Yanmar. They still use that motor on Crafco Tar Kettles.

Lucas—The Prince of Darkness!! Thank god for VW dieselgate. We have a wonderful 2913 Touareg TDI. VW fixed unit, and along with Bosch sent us a check for $8500. That are great SUVs.
