interior step lights for a 5th wheel

has anybody ever installed any? would like something on a brightness scale of a rope light, but slimmed down like led lights. first trip out last year, middle of the night the dog wanted to do what dogs do in the middle of the night. so, as I was easing along feeling for the first step location so I wouldn't fall down the stairs, well, you get where this is going.

anybody done this particular type mod? any recommendations on light type? where to wire in at? clean and sanitary install tips? any idea whats under the screwed down steps?

surely somebody has gone forward on this before me (I hope).

We just use a small night light and plug it in somewhere close to the steps. It doesn't take much light to see the steps at night when the night light is on.
