Is it "cool" to dump graywater in the campground toilets ?
My Flagstaff 625D does not have a graywater tank, so I use 5 gallon blue containers. When they get full I normally take them to the campground bathrooms and dump them in the toilet.
I'm always very careful dumping them, and I clean up any drops that get on the seat. Usually the toilet is cleaner when I leave.
Sometimes I get some strange looks as I am carrying them in. Am I doing something against the rules ? Am I supposed to take them all the way to the dump station ? That would be a real pain.

If only everyone was as considerate as you!
I don't see any problem, as it all ends up in the same place anyway!

My guess is it just looks odd. People won't know that is grey water, and wonder how you end up with gallons of black water that you are hauling to the washroom.

LOL!!
The campground paper we got this weekend at the park actually had a blurb in it about how to dispose of your graywater; pouring it in a vault toilet was the second of 2 available options, but I am in Ontario so idk what the rules are where you are.
Check at the CG and see if they are ok with it. I personally think it would be fine but what do I know.......
Maybe the people are looking to see WTH you have in the container. Its not everyday you see someone walk into the 'john' with a large bucket

Ditto what Labzy stated. Maybe you should stick a mop handle in one bucket, then everyone will just assume you are cleaning the restrooms.

We just spent a week in Yosemite National Park and the CG rules stated grey water was to be put into the vault toilet only, and not to use the restroom toilets. But we were in Death Valley NP last November and the CG rules didn't address the issue.

Dump away! I've never noticed any strange looks with my aquatainer going to the bath house. Gray water from your bucket/container is no different than the shower water going down the drain in the shower or sink.

Seriously, a vault toilet is like an old fashioned outhouse. It is a big hole in the ground, with a toilet on top, and hopefully an enclosure around the toilet.
Some of the newer ones really look nice, with better ventilation than the older outhouses. http://images.search.yahoo.com/searc...+vault+toilets

This sounds like a lot of work for you (inconvenient)...
what would it take to have a gray water tank permanently installed on the TT?

The campground I spend a lot of time at has a sign that says no gray water dumping in the toilet or in the utility sink. I guy near me who was camping in a little Casita walked to the bathroom every morning with a 5 gallon bucket that really reaked... I can only guess what he was dumping. I don't use the CG rest rooms they gross me out...

When we had our Coleman pop up I would carry 2- 7 gallon jugs for gray ( sink water )
I have never had to dump , but seen a few people use the restroom for there container
Dump away my friend.

Grey water dumping
I have been a camphost in several places in Colorado. The best way is to ask the resident host what are the rules and what is ok with the host. Some CG have the old style grey water dump tower that is seperate from the vault. Many of the upgraded CG only have the vault toilets. These vaults are nothing more than large holding tanks that have to be pumped when full. This is a costly part of the running of the CG. Some hosts are open to this way of grey water disposal. Some of the new ones will object. Some campers just dump on the ground. I do not think there is one answer that fits all situations for this, so when in doubt ask the host. Good luck and safe and happy travels. Tom-s

We do a lot of camping in Bear Country, dumping gray water on the ground is not a good Idea. You may wake up with a unwanted visitor...

We are all talking about grey water here right? Potable water that came from the ground into your fresh water holding tank out your showerhead down your body down the drain into your little 5 gal pail or whatever your using. Then your going to carry that pail carefully as to not spill a drop to a dumping station/toliet. ???? There are many countries in the world that go though great challenges to get drinking water that is much worse than your clean grey water. I love the environment and suport solar, wind power research etc.etc. But I would not be carrying it anywhere. It came from the ground and wants to go home. lol Cant find the smiley face icon or I would have one at the end.lol

Maybe easiest to get a "tote" tank with handle. Can drag or tow with vehicle to CG dump station as desired and meet all "the rules" Clean and easy.....
