Is this why some parks have a 10 year rule

Over Labor Day weekend this 1990's vintage MH was in an RV park I stayed in at Williamsburg, VA.

Interesting how door appeared to have been fabricated from duct tape and the A/C "upgraded" to a cheap window unit.

Interior illumination at night was " black light" that made everything inside kind of glow.

Will say occupant was certainly quieter than some others in park

But a set 10 year rule is ridiculous. Luckily when we were in our coach, I called ahead and explained the situation and they said "send pictures". I happily did, and we were never denied entry in any park. Ours was a 2006, sold it in 2020, it was beautiful.

Picking on my motorhome ????

I have found them often better neighbors.

Agree the 10 year rule is dumb. A fiver I had years ago was 15 years old and looked new. My current motorhome is going on 8 and looks as good as it did off the assembly line, probably better. I've camped beside some really bad looking rigs but never had an issue with the people. Very polite and minded their own business.

I’m curious as to the people who do camp in a 10 year campground, do you do it because of the rule itself? I’m just wondering why someone else’s motorhome or trailer that’s older than 10 years old is any of anyone’s concern?

Our rv has a female nickname, and thus remains 9 years old at every birthday.

I treat these rules like the ones requiring an rvia sticker (which I removed day 1). If they ask me directly for my registration, I am moving on.

I have never ran into the 10 year rule in the 35 years that we have camped. I do know that it exists though.

Would we move on? Probably our truck is almost 20 years old and the camper 7 going on 8.

Yeah I just saw some parks are requiring photos of Your Rig when reserving a site which to Me makes more sense than the 10 Year Rule.

Many RV parks out here have 10 year rules. They are rarely applied. Yep, some request pictures. No problem. The rule is in place in case some one causes some sort of problem. After seeing some older, run down parks and their clientele, I understand.

Our RV is a 2012, haven't had any problems getting in anywhere. It is only a problem if you make it one.

It's there so they can more easily (and legally) deny something/one they don't want. They may not check the age precisely and probably wouldn't keep out a 15 year old airstream.

We stayed at one this summer that said they had that rule, yet had no problem letting a guy in with his beautifully restored 1973 GMC Motorhome.

Not at all. I thought it was awesome to see.

My point in my last post is they aren't really aiming at age, just the type of people who may be traveling with "run-down" rigs.

No, nor the people that travel in them. Some people just can't afford expensive rigs.

Here’s my favorite 10+ years old RV - a GMC at the Hickory Creek COE Campground on Lewisville Lake near Dallas, Texas.
Notice the stained glass window behind the door.

I read that campgrounds don't allow 10+ year old RV's to seasonally camp, fearing that if the RV/camper is a heap, the owners will leave it there at the end of the season. Forever....
