Its Baaack...

The second consecutive weekend with winter storm warnings out is now upon us. Looks like I will be spending more quality time with the old snow shovel. Here is our current warning:

It started snowing here in the North/East at 11:30 am it is now 2:30 and the grass is just starting to turn white, my driveway is still clear. The snow is comming down steady but not heavy as of yet.
Just talled to some of my co-works in Chantilly VA, It is snowing but no accumulation as of yet temps are not low enough.

I just got back in from shoveling my driveway for the 1st time of many. We have about 4" so far. It is a heavy, wet snow, with slush on the bottom. The temperature has been right around 32 all day.

Yes 32 degrees, a change in state from a liquid to a solid with out a change in temperature, measurable that is...... that's latent heat.
Snow is now sticking to the driveway and the weatherman is saying snow could fall as much as 3 to 4" and hour. They are calling for 30+ inchs in DC.

It's just cold, wet, miserable and soggy here.

Can't pull the trailer out of the yard because the truck would just spin down to it's axles in the mud.

Besides, the weather is just as crappy in the parks, so why bother??

First cedar tree has come down, splitting down the middle on to the back deck. Power is still on but I'm wondering how long with the winds picking up and trees loaded with snow. The freezing rain has started too.

The evergreens are taking a hit around here. Some power outages in the area because of downed trees. Here is my little 12 foot cedar tree, which is now standing at about 8 foot tall.

I don't believe that this storm is going to pan out quite as bad as expected. It sleeted for a couple of hours last nite, before returning to snow. But that should keep down some on the totals. I haven't got a real good measurement yet, but it looks like about 15' of new snow. We still had about 6" on the ground from the previous snow, so I think the best place to measure might be the top of the camper.......I cleared the top of that off on Thursday, in preparation for this heavy snow.

Sounds like rockwood06 and others north of here are in for more than what we might get.

We didn't get nearly as much as they called for thankfully. It will probably only be about 8". Driveways are all cleared and, in an apparent case of mis-direction, the snow plows have already come through the neighborhood. There is still light snow falling but nothing major. Will post a pic of the downed cedar later.
