Keys locked inside

1st husband lost his set, entered camper after I warned him deadbolt was sticking, left my keys inside & now there they sit on the counter & we can't get in. Fortunately it's home in our yard but what other option do I have besides locksmith if deadbolt is what is locked. I saw to contact dealer so I will try that tomorrow, assume they have to sell this product so they are a good couple of hours away, although other dealers are close but don't sell FR. I work in cars so I can get a locksmith but wasn't set to pay that during xmas. Any other suggestions, was hoping like a car dealer I could provide VIN on side sticker & proof of ownership & they could remake a key. Cause yeah all my books are inside the camper, lucky me.

Drill out the lock and buy one of these if it's compatible with your trailer.

https://www.rvlock.com/

BTW, one of the first things I did when I bought my trailer was to take a picture of the key so I had the key code.

There are only a few key types in standard door locks. Ask Dealer if their paperwork has key # on it. Then you can order online Amazon or Ebay.

Dealers have a master key that unlocks the regular lock and the deadbolt. Call them to see if they can give you your code.

I'm confused How'd you lock the deadbolt without keys?

“deadbolt was sticking” might be the answer.... don’t know for sure.

Do you know the key #? I know mine because I have two entry doors with different keys so I memorized the key #s so I know which key goes to which door.

If you have a neighbor near by with a fr product, very good chance their key will work.
Been there done that

If the deadbolt is "sticking" and activated without the key then it is probably not completely latched. I would first try if you can get between the frame and the door with a sharp knife blade point to grab the deadbolt with the point and work it back. You may not be able to get in there if it is covered by the door edge. Also, try banging on the door next to the lock maybe it will go the other way. What trailer do you have?

If you are near a campground a lot of times they have a master key as well as the dealer. I ordered new locks with one key and leave one in the truck.

If you have the lock number you can order they key from rvlocksandmore.com. If you don't you could drill it out and swap your lock...cheaper than a locksmith when I did it...check the price first as it was only $20 for the lock and handle and a locksmith will charge $40 plus a service call.

Maybe your tow insurance will cover the lock out? They do on a car. Can call them and see.

If you have some RV roadside insurance, most will pay for locksmith services. Just a chance?

Depending on the type latches on your “escape windows”, you might try “smacking” the window with your hand by the latches and hope they unlatch. I have seen this done on another trailer. Good luck.

AFAIK, the master keys only unlock the regular lock, not the deadbolt.

I've been told multiple times when I've had to have someone from a dealership or a mobile repair guy come out to NOT lock the deadbolt.

I know it will not help your situation, but invest in a hide-a-key. I keep compartment and door keys stuck to frame inside propane compartment. I also have a hide-a-key on my truck.

You never know when you will need them.

That's the part of the lock that I use. In fact, with the keypad lock I now have, it's the only part that gets used with the keypad.

My dealer sent the repair guy to my seasonal site. I told him the deadbolt was locked so he would not be able to get in. The dealer said they have the master keys for the regular and deadbolt locks. The tech got in, did the repair and relocked the deadbolt.

There is a global master and then the ring of keys (numbered). These require you are a dealer or a locksmith.

http://www.rvlocksandmore.com/LocksK...From-G351-G390

You can even get a key to rekey your tumblers.

Anyone can get locks the master keys don't work on. I replaced all mine with a common key and keep a spare in the truck.

They keypad on the truck keeps me from locking myself out there.

Hope you get in ok.
