LA County Storage/Parking

Anyone have any recommendations on where to store/park our travel trailer when we’re not using it? Moving to LA County this summer for a year and looking for options.

If you mean L.A. county then that can be a wide area from Palmdale to Long Beach and from Westlake Village to Pomona. Much will depend on how far (in hours) from storage you want to be.

Depends on far you want to be from your storage and where you will be moving to. Will you be in the desert or mountains or one of the valleys or by the beach or the inner city?

You may want to consider how much your going to use it...Then decide if it's worthwhile to take it out to CA for the year....Your profile says your in GA...Guessing your going to tow it out there and tow it back a year later ? Are you currently paying for storage ?

My wife and I moved here to NC from Southern CA six years ago and we had the good fortune of having RV parking at our former house in CA same here in NC.

I have a friend in Orange County CA and he is paying $294 a month for a 24ft travel trailer and another friend that has a 40ft motorhome that is paying $400 a month to give you some idea of costs.

And like SimiHal mentioned LA county is a large area depending on where you store and where you live could take hours in commuting time.

Yeah, fair points. I'm actually in Delaware now. I'm military so I move around quite a bit. Goal is to take advantage of the time we've got in California to explore the national and state parks as much as possible, so I anticipate we'll use it a lot.

Good insight on the cost comparisons, that helps. I've been quoted $240 a month, so that sounds like it's as good as it's going to get. Thank you!

Plan right now is to live in/around the Woodland Hills area, dependent on where I can find housing that works for our family. I'll be working in Santa Monica, but don't want to live down in the city.

Good point, I should have specified a little better. Goal is to try to find housing in/around Woodland Hills, so I'm looking around that area.

So looking to be on the border of L.A. & Ventura county. You may try Craigslist to see what’s available and even place an add looking for a space on private property. If you have a know exactly when you have time off then start looking and booking asap. Open spaces can be extremely hard to come by ESPECIALLY in State Parks. More often than not you have to be online and ready to hit send at midnight of the first day the reservation window opens. Good luck from Simi Valley, right over the hills from Woodland Hills.

As a former 35 year resident of SoCal, the farther you go inland, the more you'll have choices and lower rates.

I get it. As with me, for WMTire and others there’s a big difference between LA and L.A. besides 1700 miles.

Since you're military, why not look at military bases? Many have an RV storage lot. The one near me charges $45 a month.

Having lived in Louisiana, there is no LA County. They have Parishes.

Up at the end of the valley near the reservoir (I think near where 5 and 405 meet) there used to be a huge RV/boat storage place. If I remember right it was pretty reasonable. And secure.

There is a big yard up there, more off the 118 210, lots of semi trucks. There are private lots as well where I use to store mine in sun valley when we lived out there. I'll send you a pm with a contact.

I am in Simi Valley and pay $145.00 per month for a 30 foot spot. How long will you be in California and how big is your rig? Saw you will be in town for a year, by the way "Thank You for your service"

For State Parks in California you will use reservecalifornia.com Six months out from the day you want @ 8:00am. Or look for cancellations. Carpinteria State Beach is very nice and in town, Refugio State Beach is a little above Santa Barbara and a popular one to go to that is close by. Send me a PM if you want additional information. This is for State Parks
