Haven't tried rope lights but I am afraid they would attract flying insects at night. ??

We camp with several hundred other campers a little extra light doesn't matter.

This is true! When we have noisy neighbors (like on a weekend), I put my good ear in the pillow, and my deaf ear lets me keep my calm demeaner The blacked out bedroom windows complete the silent, dark cave environment that makes for perfect sleeping

Can you imagine the complaints that would raise? You would have to string them together by their tails to keep them in place and if they don't get along you'll have to listen to all that fuss fighting cats make
Probably best to just get one of those sleeping masks.

That's actually possible. They have alligators on Galveston beaches.
So maybe they were trying to at least see the alligators before they stepped on them.
