left rear blinker not working

Good evening, I stumbled upon this site looking for some answers to my dilemma. I own a 2016 Roo 23IKSS.

The blinkers have worked fine since I had the camper but this season the left blinker isn't working at all. The light works but no blinker. I already changed the bulb to no avail. I must add this bit of info. I looked at the fixture from inside the camper and there's a black wire that leads to the light that was just dangling there it wasn't in any of the wire locks. Look like it may have been pulled out some how.

Also, this is the first time I hook it up to a different vehicle. I bought a 2016 RAM and plugged it in to make sure everything works for this weekend. Everything worked fine with my Nissan Titan.

thanks,

Different truck means it could be the problem.
Let’s start analyzing from the RAM.
All truck lights work correctly?

Got one of these?

Look in the owner's manual for your tow vehicle and find the location of the fuse for the signal light. When I had your issue, I'd blown a signal light fuse in my truck.

blinkers work fine on the truck itself. Passenger side blinker on RV work fine too. I may have to get me one of them tools. That'll at least break it down to either truck or RV.

thanks,

You might want to pick up one these too.....then you can test both kinds of connections for anyone, including your own.

I had the same experience 10 days ago. I also changed the bulb.
Tow vehicle worked fine. TT left turn signal and stop light did not work. It ended up being some sand picked up in the connector cord between the TT and the tow vehicle. The plug would not go in totally and make a connection. Cleaned off the debris, it worked fine.

I was shocked to find that newer vehicles have a separate fuse for the trailer blinker and the tow vehicle blinker. That may be your issue.

I said that in post #3 but was ignored. It doesn’t matter if the corresponding light on the tow vehicle is working. They’re on different circuits with separate fuses in my truck.

That’s why having the testers I showed in posts #2 and #5 test your lighting using the actual connectors from the tow vehicle that the trailer has to use.

If there’s a separate fuse you’ll see no continuity for trailer lighting.
If there’s dirt in the connector you’ll see no continuity for trailer lighting.

Snowdog50, Look at the opposite light ( the working one) from the inside. See if the wiring matches the non-working side. From you post your problem is likely that black wire. Might have to take the light unit apart and reattach that wire. The other answers are all good. So many things to check!!

Come back and let us know how you fixed it, might help other folks with the same problem .

So I finally got a circuit tester and sure enough the L blinker is shorted. Anyway during my troubleshooting the other day I decided to removed the tail light assembly to feed the wires through the holes. Now the light is not working at all. Should have left all alone. I'll be heading back out shortly to continue on with this issue. I am going to check out the right side wiring.

Hello Mr. Dan, just read your post, thanks for this. I took a look at my designated power distribution for tow vehicle pulled the fuse for L Turn/Stop sure enough it was blown. Luckily I had a spare available in one of the banks. I used it and it worked fine.

I went through the removal of the light assembly in order to troubleshoot the turn signal and noticed the black wire dangling. I found the grouping of wires that it belonged to and refastened with a new wire nut and the blinker still didn't work but running lights worked fine.

Now I don't have to bring the truck to the garage tomorrow. Thanks everyone for all your help. Learned a lot through this one. Never a dull moment owning an RV.

There should be 3 wires to that light. A ground, a trun/stop, and a tail/running light. Do you have 2 or 3 wires hooked up to it?

The assembly has 3 wires connected to it. It's all set, just reattached the black wire that was dislodged from the wire nut. After that, I replaced the fuse that post #3 mentioned. I had no idea newer trucks had their own fuse bank of 6 fuses associated for tow vehicles. Great tip btw. Good to go for the weekend. First trip of the season.
