Leveling boards/blocks

In need of some new boards for leveling purposes. My current supply have all split or are too short now for a dual axle trailer. Plan on getting some 2x8's relatively free of knots. But perhaps there are some other alternatives I should look at for leveling the trailer in those not so level campsites?

Same here. They are light, easy to use and relatively inexpensive. I level with them and put them under the jack and stabilizers.

Being down here in the south and close to the coast, our soil is very sandy. At my property and many of the close by campgrounds up and down the coast. I use pressure treated 4" X 6" blocks cut to 12" long on the front jack stands and rear stabilizers. I have system described above that I will drive onto for side to side leveling but need a little bit larger weight dispersing area especially at the front jacks.

That makes sense. I have been in that sand......doing a low-country boil. What a great meal when you're down your way where you can get fresh shrimp.

It is a great meal!! We actually have a legal shrimp baiting season. Mid Sep til mid Nov. Where you can keep a 48quart cooler full each night!!

Canyou get ahold of som dump truck liner. Usually any company that has gravel trucks has take out pieces of this liner that they will alot give away. Just take your pads that you make and mount this to the top and bottom sides with 1/4 in bolts this will make your pads last for near ever.

I assume you are putting the boards under the tires on your FW not under the jacks!

I do use boards like you and buy them from a commercial lumber yard versus a discount building supply. (I want seasoned wood) I have double wheels like you and I buy (2) 2 X 6 boards long enough to fit in the truck bed side to side, which is about 5-6 feet. That is long enough to cover both wheels of the FW. These boards last me years.

I also buy boards for the jacks and rear stabilizer. I use (4) 2X6X6 for front and rear and also get a 1 foot long (2) 4X4 for the jacks as I have had circumstances where they were helpful. I store them with the wheel boards. I do stain the wood an off white just to look good and add a little preservative.

Composite deck boards work great and will not deteriorate.

I am a wedge guy; I have had these aluminum leveling wedges for 8yrs my dad had them 20 years before me and they were given to him from my Great Uncle(I have no idea how long he used them). So these levelers could be 40-50yrs old and still look like new.
I like that there is no guessing on how high I have to go. I put them in place, go up until I’m level, put the locking chock in behind and done. They’re very light weight and store easy.

It looks like there is a brand name or serial etched on the bottom.

any chance we could find out what it says?

I hope you enjoy them. As soon as I looked at them the thought "Unstable" came to my mind ... Wouldn't that thing just pivot to the other side if you moved the trailer enough ? I am not talking bad about the product, it is just that it looks unstable by design. Does anyone use this and any feedback ?

Looks cool, but I would worry about stability on a soft site. Probably fine on a very firm surface.
Also, for dual axles, not good to have one wheel off the ground for a long time?Added stress on the weight bearing axle?

You are absolutely correct.

I bought two (as stated in my post). You can never have too many chocks. LOL
