License-Class A vs Class C

License-Class A vs Class C

So California says a class C drivers license works for a two axle vehicle up to a GCWR of 26,000 lbs, but if there are three axles the GVWR is 6000.

Class A is required to tow a 5th wheel and most TTs

It looks like the difference is not about a 2500 truck or 3500 truck, but really about towing ?

Is this correct? How many of the have a class A (noncommercial) license Just for RVing?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question - or what I'm reading on the CA DMV site. It shows I can pull a TT with a max GVWR of 10,000# (as long as I'm not doing it for $) with my Class C license. That goes to 15,000# for a 5th wheel.

Page 7 of this DMV doc is where I got the info from

Thank you, this was not the same information I got on the DMV website. This handbook is more clear. Typical government website making things way more confusing than the should be, especially in California
