Lino Repair Advise

The main slide on our 1 yr old WWTT chose to carve out a quarter size piece of lino on its way in as we packed out yesterday. I'm trying to find out if anyone knows first, why this might have happened and second, how to glue this lino I'm piece back down so the floor looks right. Of course, it's right in the middle of the main room so I suspect we're well into the depreciation with this one.
Thanks for any input and advise.

We had that happen with our Rockwood 2304KS when we owned it. I found a small piece on one cabinet that was sticking down that I think caused it.

I contacted Rockwood and was able to buy some flooring that matched and pieced in a fit. Couldn't tell ther was ever a tear.

Lots of info out there how to do it, here's one.
