Looking at used truck with 5th wheel hitch removed

Looking at a used 3/4 ton TV low milage price is right etc. I found out it had a 5th wheel that has been removed. There is a bedliner covering everything so its not visible. Does anybody know if the holes left behind in the frame rails and bedfloor could pose any issues? Its on a dealer lor about 2 hours away I did some research and found the original owner and found this out. He said he towed about 3K miles total with his camper.

My guess is no problems. Many folks have 5th wheel hitches and they don't have
problems so why would you think the holes would be a problem?

2nd, many of those with 5th wheel trailers used to have regular trailers like you and me.
One day you'll want a bigger trailer and your wife will start salivating over those nice
big 5th wheels and you'll have the truck with the holes already drilled!!

My 2¢

There are water drain holes in your bed anyway.
But I would remove bedliner and spray some rust proofing in and around holes.
You can buy aerosol cans at any parts store.

I was worried about the holes drilled into the frame rails and such compromising the integrity of the trucks frame. They will be empty holes now but I guess I could seal them up. It's a real nice 3/4 ton truck with low milage and in great condition. Guess i'll call the dealership back in the AM.

Depends on the truck and brand of frame mounts; I have a Dodge 2500HD and my frame brackets are no drill brackets, they are two piece brackets that bolt around the frame instead of to it.

Mines a '05 QC and the '06 would probably require the same brackets, not sure how the brands play into it. Poke your head under either in front of or right behind the rear axle and have a look/see. Should easy enough to spot, it will have bolts running under the frame, through the bracket.

Call the original owner back, find out what kind of hitch he had, and buy the same one, re-install it in the same holes, spray paint/rustproof the crap out of everything you can, and you're ready for whatever life throws at you!

I wouldn't be worried about the blank holes.
And if you are really worried about than make a strap and mark and drill holes in the strap and bolt from hole to hole.
good luck in your pending purchase.
