mattress replacement or memory foam topper?

We bought our new rpod 195 in Spring 2020 and have used it for about 20 nights camping. Neither of us is "heavy" (135 and 180 lbs) but after about 10 nights sleeping the mattress has permanent indents where our butts lie! I unzipped the cover and it looks like the mattress is made of cotton batting!! Any ideas on replacing the mattress (it's shorter than the standard queen; 60"wide, 74" long) or have you purchased a memory foam mattress topper?

Did not like the way our mattress felt right off the bat. Between the cotton batting and the recycled plastic bags they used for the stuffing it, well for lack of a better word, sucked. Ordered a 3 inch gel infused memory foam topper from Amazon. Only thing I had to do was to use my electric carving knife and whack off the extra 4 inches to make it fit on the short queen mattress. Even with the extra height we can still use 9 inch deep fitted short queen sheets with no problem.

We ha a Rockwood Roo. Both mattresses were awful and couldn't sleep on them. We went to Walmart and purchased 4in mattress Gel topper. What a difference!!!!! We just bought a used fifth wheel with three of the same type of mattresses. We purchased three more for the new trailer. Thank god the master has a nice mattress. Good luck and Sleep!!!

With these mattresses there doesn't seem to be any happy medium. Mine is on a Murphy Bed and was rock hard. At lest the OP's was soft enough to form depressions.

Only thing good I can say about the mattress that came with my trailer is that it was heated. Trying to figure out how to keep that and still have a better mattress.

We got rid of the factory mattress in our Rockwood 2506S and got one on Amazon.com... Love it.. You do have to trim the length.. use a electric knife.. easy to do.. here is a link:

While on our current 40 day trip we also bought the 4" topper from walmart. There were 2 chioces, we bought the more expensive one. Now it feels like our serta memory foam at home. Great sleeping. Plus our mbs has the mattress that slides up and sits on top of itself when slide closes and the foam topper seems to work well when closing slide.

I thought of buying a replacent trifold but noware to store stock mattresses so we tried topper and it worked

Smile Mattress Replace or Cover

We replaced our mattress very shortly after purchase and replaced with a Memory Foam mattress and never looked back.

Talking

We got our Cherokee this summer and the sales guy told us most people stop at the first dumpster they see on the way home and throw it out. It's rock hard but we both love it.

In our last TT we added memory foam to the top and it was great. The current TT, 2019 Hemisphere 272RL came with a Denver Mattress and it is fantastic.

We purchased a 6 inch queen foam mattress from Walmart and it was so good we got one for our Coachman.

We have always spent $1400.00 to $2200.00 for mattress and box spring for our home and that is a load of crap. You dont even need a box spring in your bed has slats but they will try to sell you one.

Anyways, cant be the price and the sleep. $269.00

Be sure to allow it to air out as being rolled up after production does trap some odor in it. Its not bad odor but its better to let it air out.

Just got our new XLR 2815 Toy Hauler and that is the first thing we are doing is replace the mattress. Going to try a regular queen. Hope it works...

The Murphy bed mattress in our MiniLite 2104S is also heated and rock hard. We put a 3" memory foam top on it, and now it's more comfortable than our bed at home. BTW, the heated mattress still works with the foam top, it just takes a little more time for the heat to soak through.

I'd recommend people try a topper first. They're cheaper than a whole mattress, and it seems like a waste of landfill space to toss a brand new mattress. JMHO.

Zinus brand short queen on Amazon. HUGE improvement, gave our stock mattress to our daughter and they double stack that on their stock RV mattress. Different heights available, too thick and Murphy bed won’t shut right. They also sell a narrow/RV twin for bunks.

I have a 2019 FR Salem FSX 260RT Toy Hauler. I slept on my mattress one night and drove to a nearby Mattress Firm the next day and bought a Full Size Queen. Not as much room going around the bed now with the longer Queen, but the Full Size Queen is worth it.

We also added a 3" foam topper from Amazon to our Wolf Pup mattress. I also find that combination of the thin, firm mattress with the foam top to be more comfortable than the bed at home. Especially with big new puffy pillows!

We have a Flagstaff 26FKBS. The factory mattress was a very thin Sealy. It didn't work for us. Tried a foam mattress topper. No go. We're not big people either. We looked around and ordered a Wilderness RV Mattress. We spend 60-80 days camping yearly and the Wilderness mattress has been been very comfortable. Pricey but well worth it in our opinion.
