Memory Foam

After sleeping way too many nights on the most uncomfortable mattress, I broke down and bought the 8" memory foam from Overstock.com. They offer the short queen size made for campers. Wow, I should have listened to the wife and ordered right away.

How much did that set you back, if I may ask?

We added a 3" memory foam topper. That made a night and day difference too. No more back pain!

I guess the point is that FR (and the others) go cheap, instead of functional.

The FR matrices seems to be designed lightweight for towing. Though the memory foam is worth it weight in gold.

There is a special right now for $309 for the 8 inch. You can buy less thick mattresses for less money. I don't think you could go wrong even with the 2 inch memory foam. Well worth the money!

We put a 2" memory foam on our bed and one of the bunks, it helps, but I would like to upgrade sometime to a better mattress.

I got the 3" memory foam pad from Wally World. We've not slept on it yet but it has to be more comfy than the mattress!

Mattress warranty

We have a Coachmen Catalina with a short queen sized mattress. We have had slept on it 7 or 8 nights when we had to flip and rotate it. It is terrible. Anyway, I just had my camper to the Dealer for some issues with the infamous ZX-50 etc. The Dealer asked me to remove the covers on the mattress so he could put a straight edge over it and take some pictures. I did so and it turns out the middle was already 2 1/2 inches lower than the outer edges. The Dealer said there had been some problems and he would try and get us a new mattress under warranty... I hope he succeeds! I'll still get a memory foam topper though.

Here is one on Amazon for less than 300.00 Not a bad deal if you know someone with an amazon prime account to ship for free 2 day. If you have a queen short just cut it. Thats the beauty of foam.

We would like to get a foam topper for our mattress but the bed is so high already we are afraid if we add any more height to it we will have to use the bunk ladder to get in it.

Well, the Dealer was unable to get Forest River to cover the mattress... Even though my wife and I both roll to the middle after only 10 nights sleeping on it! There is a 2-1/2 inch dip in the middle. I think the entire mattress is only 6 inches maybe... I bought the camper to get off of the ground in a tent. The ground would be more comfortable I think! The lady at the Dealership is trying to get the mattress manufacturer to do somehting. We'll see...

We also put the 3 inch memory foam on top of the mattress. Wife does not complain at all about the sleep! We also have a thick cover over that, can't recall what they are called.

I suggest the Ikea mattresses for both comfort and price. Added one to my Toyhauler and its almost more comfy than the bed at home

I really have to wonder about all of the mattress complaints, as ours is just fine. Do they put really cheap mattresses in some campers and better ones in others? We did order the upgraded one, so are the compaints coming from those with just the standard mattress?

Our matress was alright but a bit too hard for our liking. Also got a 3 inch memory foam and it is very comfortable.
