I don't understand what "code" was broken. I just looked up your campers floor plan. Same as mine, a Salem and it has 40 gal fresh and 66 gal grey capacity. Its a 2014, why didn't Forest River just change yours to this configuration. Its not like they didn't have the parts laying around.
Still think at the very least, you should have been told and givin a choice.

I'm guessing the old 32 gallon fresh water spec included the hot water tank, and I'm guessing the new fresh tank spec of 25 gallons includes the hot water tank.

As for their disclaimer saying they reserve the right to make changes whenever they want-just because they say it doesn't mean that can legally do it; just like kbosh and his tshirt. I'm tempted to start a lass action lawsuit or talk to a lawyer. I suppose going to forest river first would be the thing to do. Does anyone have contact info for forest river?

IMO, much ado about nothing. Get rid of the camper if it is causing so much heartburn.

I believe the ado is not so much as keep or sell, but more of changing a spec, that is still being advertised, and not informing the buyer. IMO, letting them find out after the sell and on their own sounds dishonest.

Hard to recall all the brochures, etc. Maybe next years brochures will be correct. Who knows?

That is good to know but I don't know why. If your freshwater tank is empty the water pump is not going to push that 5 gal out of the water heater

I guess you can drain it and catch it in a pan..

I figured out why they use the water heater as water capacity. Even though it is not the useable capacity it does figure into your total weight. 40 to 80 lbs depending on size of tank...

Understand about the printed brochures, but I looked at the interweb and its still there too. Don't claim to know anything about building web sites, but seems that accuracy in what my company is selling would be a priority. I bet if the price was wrong, they would have fixed it yesterday.

No doubt! Its funny all those who responded here and are in the "its no big deal" corner obviously did not get mislead on their units. Some of us dry camp (I do ALOT) tank size is a very important consideration. In fact every bit as important as the floor plan. Its funny if some of you people bought a 3K watt Honda generator that only put out 1500 watts you lose your minds but a 20-30K dollar camper with 1/2 of whats advertised is much ado about nothing.

Think it sucks to be honest.
When they claim 70 gal and you get 38 that is big deal!
Its not like they change the fabric the curtains were made out of or a different carpet material .
They should have been upfront about the change in tanks. Wrong is wrong no sugar coating it. When I was shopping I stayed away from smaller holding tank units.
To say trade it in...thats crazy unless you get full price of what you paid

This is the email that I sent to Kim Dobson at Palomino RV. First email starts at the bottom. I asked a question about the tanks.

They have all been eliminated due to code violations.

Is it just my trailer that is missing the 2nd grey tank, or have you eliminated it out of every 317bhsk trailer?

We had to eliminate it because of a code violation. The only thing the second tank held was the outside kitchen, and that drains into the black tank. They would not have any more grey water capacity for the kitchen or lav sinks with that tank added. In order for that unit to be built to code, that tank would have to have a separate termination and be vented out the sidewall and I am not sure if you can even vent any tank out the sidewall anymore.

We bought that trailer because one of the things we liked, was that it had 70gal of grey water. We do lots of dry camping and the larger grey water for showers was a must for us. Our other trailer had a 45 gal grey water and it was always full before we were done camping. We bought this trailer a month ago and have only used it 2 times. Can you install the 2nd grey tank or get us a trailer that has both tanks installed.

That unit only has one grey tank and one black tank. The outside kitchen drains into the black tank. They are both 38 gallon tanks.

It sounds like you only ever had 38 gallons for everything except the outside kitchen, so very little has really changed.

I race motocross and there is usually 4 or 5 people staying in my trailer for 2 days of racing. We are not allowed to drain our tanks at the track. They will kick us out. So the larger grey tank was a big selling feature for us. 4 or 5 people having 2 showers each weekend is 8 to 10 showers. I can add fresh water easily. Cant get rid of grey water.

For those of you with the "sell it " attitude, give me your wallet and I will sell it tomorrow and order another one.

JFM-jr, your absolutely right. The ones with the "who cares attitude" are obviously the ones that didn't get mislead on there units.

I guess all of this is my fault for assuming that all grey water went into one big tank or two smaller tanks joined as one.

Its false advertisement so dont blame yourself! Fine print or not thats a huge dif.

New 2014 Palomino Solaire 317 BHSK Travel Trailers at Collier RV Super Center Rockford Illinois Collier RV Super Center
Palomino RV - Manufacturer of Quaility RVs since 1968
they should tell there dealers as they are advertise at 76 gallon grey.
And they know about it and have not change the info on the web site. Not right, but it is much more impressive listed at 76 then 38 for a sale
If it was me I would be pissed too!
