You had channels? That means you had a TV. I remember when we didn't.

BTW if you don't have an Echo, I can highly recommend them. I use the hell out of the thing.

How about the continuous recording those things do. Not too long ago someone was convicted of a crime because Alexa recorded what was being said in the room.
I'm just saying with those things, privacy goes out the window.

When in 5th grade @ 1973 the teacher brought in his
reloading gear and we spent a few days learning reloading handgun ammo as science class. There was no issue, no parents going ballistic. The guy did that with every class for years. I'd like to see what happened if that was tried today.

I guess I need to catch up I can't get a pizza delivered to my house even using my rotary dial phone. Can't get cell service either told me we would get cell service in 3 months but 15 years later still not here. If it weren't for the monkey they sent in space I might not have the internet either. Can't remember project Mercury ?
Oh just heard land lines may be pulling out of some states no more Ma Bell........
I remember when it was safe to ride your bike downtown to the hobby shop. Oh wait hobby shops are gone too.......

I'm sure we can now put on our virtual reality goggles and tell Alexa to take us camping...without even leaving the couch. No muss, no fuss.

Hahaha!!! I JUST used that as a reference to a kid the other day. Not only did I have to get up and change the channels BUT if I wasn't paying attention and went past my desired channel, I had to go through the dial all over again. Hahaha!!! #70sModernLifeProbs

*snort*
Senior in high school......Speech class, had to give a demonstration speech. Friend of mine got a starter's pistol from the track coach (he gladly gave it up).....not even a 'real' gun. Gave a speech on pistol safety. Got a B.
Standing on the Senior Porch after lunch, we concocted a scheme......got in a fake fight, I squeezed the ketchup packets I had in my hand from lunch, and acted like he shot me.
Principal saw it. Didn't think it was funny, but no repercussions.
We all had real shotguns in our truck windows in the parking lot. We went hunting after school for goodness sakes.
Are things better? Well, sure they are. Are things worse? Well, sure they are.
And the absolutely best time to be alive, in my opinion, is the time that you are actually alive.
P.S.
I remember the first TV, a tiny black and white thing. And the first dial telephone. And I was in college when Neal Armstrong walked on the moon. Like Farmers, I've seen a few things..........

Can't believe no one has mentioned "party lines"!!
I remember picking up the phone to call and hearing another conversation.
I also remember there were a couple of "older gals" who liked to talk a LONG
time and getting an open line to make a call could be a real challenge.
I also remember a bank of "dry cell" batteries in the basement. I'm pretty
sure they were for the phone and got replaced every so often by someone
from the phone co.
Our phone at home would ring if the call was for us.
At my grandma's house you had to count the rings to know if the call was
for you or a neighbor. Two long and one short for grandma I think...

I remember when my curly haired neighbor in Philly would fly kites during thunderstorms. After one particular storm his hair was straight and he had a wild look on his face.

When I was little we had Operators. You picked up the phone receiver and the operator would say "number please."
