I first plugged up every little hole I could find using steel wool and Pest Block expending foam. We use essential oil of peppermint (cotton balls in ceramic mugs, soaked in the oil) in several places throughout the trailer and in outside storage areas, plus a few bags of Fresh Cab. It’s not 100% but its working very well for us. Having a cat who is a good mouser patrolling around the trailer would be helpful, too.

But after sealing it last summer, I had just as many mice last winter as ever. I have even used spray foam around the slide out, but suspect that they still may be coming in around the slide. We want to purchase a new travel trailer in the future. I would like feedback on what others have found to be "mouse proof". We would still like a 27 - 32 ft. with a slide out.
Thanks

My theory is that I don't want to have to "repel" mice with peppermint oil, dryer sheets, fresh cab etc. I've sealed my camper on the bottom so they can't get in the camper in the first place.
Looked at the bottom if the trailer from front to back and sealed ALL possible points of entry with rodent proof spray foam.

I place rat poison underneath my campers and put a lot of mousetraps in the camper. Steel wool and expanding foam haven't solved my problem. Those little buggers always seem to find a way to get into a camper.

Dometic fridge vent openings have a sign hung out “Come All Ye Vermin”. The vermin climbed up the RV cover and hung out outside and inside the lower fridge vents (fridge in slide). Bought the screens for the upper and lower fridge vents (3 each). Those vents were the ONLY holes that the vermin could get into. My last 5er was a 1992 never had vermin in it. First winter with the new 5er and got vermin. Luckily I got em all and screened the problem.

I know from experience that this doesn't work at all. They eat the stuff like candy.

Please don't use poison. The mice eat it it and then need to go find water. In the process they are eaten by wildlife ( Eagles, hawks and owls) or pets who are them poisoned and die. Over two dozen Eagles have been killed in Maryland this year from feeding on poisoned carcasses.
