Mouse Turds Again!!

Just when I thought we had gotten rid of them little critters. I went out to the camper yesterday to get something out of it and mouse turds in the sink! We store our soaps in a suction cup type of caddy that we stick to the inside of sink. How do you keep them critters out?

Shot Gun!! Naw just kidding. Make sure you have no open penatrations under your RV. Fill any openings around pipes etc with steel wool. I had heard and tryed dryer sheets . They seem to help. There is the tryed and true way of the traps. I use the plastic clothe pin style that are easy to set and easy to disspose of the critter.

I used dryer sheet and whole cloves (Who knows if either of them actually work) but the trick is to close off any entry points.

Now a good trap. Drill two holes in opposing sides of the rim of a pail. Drill the bottom of a plastic pop bottle and Run a wire through the bottle (clothes hanger wire is good) and through the holes in the rim. The bottle should rotate freely on the wire. Now the evil part (PETA members please stop reading now.) Place some peanut butter on the bottle and fill the pail with about 4 inches of water. The critters will climb onto the pail, onto the wire, and onto the bottle where they fall off into the water when the bottle rotates. Treading water is not a mouse's strong point.

Please no hate mail. It's mice.... Eagles would catch them this way if God had given them opposing thumbs.

PS: I learned this on one forum or another... if it was here, I give props to the original poster.

I thought so too, but couldn't get a hit on mouse as a keyword.

The turds don't bother me nearly as much as what they do to everything they can get their teeth into when the decide to build a nest. They can be destructive little pests. I have never been very successful at keeping them out of my trailer when it is closed up for the winter. d-Con bait packs all over the place seem to work best for me, along with a few traditional mousetraps.

Still trying to get rid of that little sucker! I set some traps a few days ago and went out last night to check them, nothing. She did however tear the bath mat to shreads, must be building a nest. I moved the traps around so the battle continues!

A word of warning about DECON. After eating the Decon the mice tend to look for a place to hide and die. We had one get into the back of a wall and the only way to get rid of the smell was to remove the wall. Decon works but it does have it down side.

You are right....I found some dead ones today.
They nested in a foldup lawn chair I had in my lake shed. I busted it out today to go tailgating at a football game and found a nest in the bag...along with about 3 dead mice! YUCK!

Chair went straight to the trash.
Hope they don't get in the trailer. Maybe I'll have to go check again....

There is a super sticky sheet trap available out there, something like fly paper on steriods. You place them out in the mice traffic areas. The also catch just about anything else, including your cat or small children! Now you just check on these things every couple of days. There's not much stink because it doesn't kill the mouse. Non-toxic. Just roll the thing up vermin and all and throw the whole thing away. Home Depot. Lowes. Ace Hardware

I found some of these the other day. Laid a few of them out after I got the TT winterized this weekend. I'll check them in a few days and see what i get.

We use cedar blocks and cedar balls in all storage spaces. Draws, dresser, closets, and outside storage areas. Never had a mouse in 12 years.
